Its been reported by the Advertiser here in adelaide that Josep Gombau will be announcing the signing of a Spanish striker to replace Jeronimo and its gotten around that the striker could be Jon Toral, 19 yr old Spanish striker who grew up in the Barcelona system before joining up with the Arsenal reserves team.

Gombau actually coached him in the barca academy so that is where the link probably came from.

Ive heard on good authority that this new guy is a striker that can play in behind bruce and be a back up for carussca..... I guess more like messi type of player then the target man we have in bruce

Ofcourse plans fall through and plans change but i got the feeling it was already in the bag when jeronimo signed for jets.

Thought toral was highly rated in the arsenal youth set up although he is down the pecking order a bit. Definitely not a striker, more a attacking mid

He just signed a contract in April, possibly a loan but I doubt this, he's highly rated and we probably want him to get used to the British game.

He is also 100% not a striker. Plays on the left and in central midfield for our reserves.

Toral started today for arsenals first preseason game. He is not coming to the a-league because even it was a loan, arsene wenger would never think the a-league is good for his development

Even without the hindsight it's hilarious for 2 reasons :lol:

1. He's a midfielder not a striker and 2. Wenger was never letting him come to Australia on loan. Always going to be another club in England or a club on the continent.
