I am just totally mystified why the FFA played Socceroos matches at Suncorp as well, its a huge rip off for the stadium.
Clearly in Queensland AFl is the number one priority for them, and the government sponsored the Broncos and Reds.
Any idiot who wants a Townsville team should come up with this 22k themselves personally or keep their mouths shut.
Unfortunatley Fox have decided that Brisbane must have a franchise. FFA wouldn't have bothered keeping the orange franchise afloat if it didn't have to. Suncorp gets Socceroos games in exchange for cheaper rent of the stadium for the Roar. FFA brokered the deal when Roar threatened to move games to Ballymore(i think) back in S3 or 4? Stadium rental in queensland is controlled by the government (stadiums queensland). Any stadium over 9999 seats and capable of holding an international event by law must be run by them. #monopoly This was Clive Palmer main rant and reason for capping GCU crowds back in the day, as under 5000 people and the rent was only a third. 5001 people you pay for the whole stadium.
