Haven't posted for a while miss you racists flogs. Whats the football world doing tomorrow for NYE? I got a place in the city with the gf might just end up getting tanked and watch fireworks for BOOM. Anything special planned?

I genuinely hate NYE. It always gets built up to be some kind of wonderful night full of amazing experiences and all it ends up being is a night spent texting friends trying to figure out how you lost them in a certain club or something.
My last NYE I actually attempted to do the whole part thing was 08/09, at Sydney Uni Manning Bar for Purple Sneakers DJs  Since then I've just kept my NYE's very low key. Tonight I'll be at the father-in-laws, swimming in the pool, knocking back some ciders, and playing some cards and board games. I don't have to go back to work till Monday so it's going to be a great long weekend.

Thanks to America Australia has this idea that NYE is the night of your life and you will dance the night away and find the love of your life! (ala Steroidsonic festivals). Fuck that, just have fun with your mates. -PB

Agreed 100%, it's the most overrated social event of the year, I loath it. I love a night out as much as the next guy but NYE is built up way too much and everyone feels compelled to have a 'big one' that pretty much always disappoints and costs a lot more than your standard night out, especially with most places whacking on ridiculous entry fees for the occasion. This year I'm living pretty close to the city so I'll be staying in with a few mates having beers, FIFA and a toke at home, I can't be bothered going out this year and am actually looking forward to just chilling out.

I'm usually in bed by 10.
I can only laugh at the people who go out and treat it as some special occasion.

I'm working a good on 12-hour shift. 5pm-5am. Because of the alcohol free zones around the harbour, my pub is expecting a big one. Afterwards I might head out to Newtown and go for a few beers with workmates. But given I'm doing a 72 hour week this week, I won't stay out too long. Will have to get some sleep before I do another 12 hour shift at 4. Money will be excellent, however.

At falls festival so should be a good night. Have already cooked myself pretty well though.
Agree with others that it's usually a let down. People plan for it to be their biggest night of the year but it's never that good.

I can only laugh at the people who go out and treat it as some special occasion. Why do you laugh? It is a special occasion - something that is celebrated by much of the rest of humanity. Sure, commercialism has a lot to answer for, but I'm guessing you celebrate Christmas...

I was stupid, got sucked into and then destroyed by a fairly large shore breaker. So I spent much of tonight trying to get salt water and sand out of my nose and ears. Amazing how much still comes out when you stand on your head several hours later.

Surely Valentines Day is the most stupid social occasion than NYE?

Awesome night at lake eppalock . When twelve hit people had illegal fireworks going off then one huge mother fucker went off and it sounded like a bomb, blew all the power in the district  , someone also had flares. Police turned up as well .

Was expecting a day of pushy, aggressive riders in a hurry to get one place or another and ended up having 13 hours of hectic fun with a bunch of banter, jokes, beer runs, trying to find hidden parties, speculation over who killed Hae Min Lee and some really weird "would you rather" questions from a hot chick with a sense of humour like Sarah Silverman.
And I made more money in a night than I usually make in a week.
Fucking wrecked today though, feel like I have a massive hangover despite not touching a drop of grog.

Pretty modest night. Had a couple of beers but nothing compared to match day. Fireworks on the street at midnight in Germany which you can buy at the supermarket. Too many idiots not knowing what they actually have so you had fireworks shooting sideways and people shooting at each other.
