china will have to defend and hope for a fluke goal like against saudi because they sure are unlikely to create clear chances

So. I'm going to state this assuming we top the group. And also assuming that China beat North Korea.
That would mean if Uzbekistan win here. We will most likely play China (they have head to head on Saudis) in qtrs. if China win it would be a playoff between Uzbekistan and Saudis, with China confirmed top of the group after tonight regardless. A draw opens things up. But these two would be favorites to progress

Great work with the Chinese keeper and the ball boy though. Makes me want them to progress.

spfc wrote:thats interesting, referee blows for half time right as the 4th official raises the 1 minute additional time board Yeh, the referee blew his whistle and then the stadium announcer said 'There will be 1 minute of time added on.' Then followed it up by saying the halftime score was 0-0. Takes me back to the inaugural A-League match here. At full-time they announced over the loud speaker 'Queensland Roar have defeated New Zealand Knights 2 points to nil.' #-o

China started well, after the goal they didn't show much in the front 3rd apart from a few awkward balls over the top. What is with the Chinese right winger defending as a fullback, they have nothing on the flanks going forward just those two blokes up the top.

Good finish, horrific keeping.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Zheng Zhi Number 10 is 34 years old been around the traps. Played for Celtic and Charlton Athletic, now plying his trade for Guangzhou Evergrande. Kinda their Bresciano but not as good I think didn't get many games for Celtic (14) or Charlton (68 - 9 goals).

Just caught the last few minutes and the highlights. Two shouts for goal of the tourney from China there, really shaking it up.
Possibly Uzbekistan for us in the quarters now.

So:
China top group B and a quarter final in Brisbane. With that game likely being against South Korea (we would have to lose Saturday for it not to happen) I think China may give them a run for their money
Also China vs South Korea. Surely a crowd of 25k+ is possible in Brisbane?

China were entertaining to watch and their support was amazing. Two great crowds tonight, as a football fan I am stunned at the turnout for those matches. EAD all other codes.

Saudis if they win or draw (GD) Uzbekistan if they win I don't really have a preference tbh. But I'd much rather play one of these two than China. Beating korea (or atleast drawing) is very important I'm because China and then most likely Japan is definately the hardest route to the final

Uzebecs ran out of legs, i thought their substitutions were poor as well taking off their two best players, plus a gift from the goalkeeper. China will have nothing against teams like australia, japan, iran and even UAE. I am not impressed with them at all.

Does China top the group due to the head to head results? or does goal difference come in first?

Who ever we play, remember to give them the respect they deserve. I believe there are no easy games at internal level especially in a major competition. Teams don't make it out of the group because they're not of a good quality. Australia will need to be ready for with SA or Uzbeks because it wont be an easy game. How many teams have underestimated Australia in the past and we have shown them we can play!? dont ever get to confident let the football do the talking. Edited by Davstar: 15/1/2015 04:52:27 PM

The Uzbeks looked better a few years ago and even what I saw of them in World Cup qualifying. The Uzbeks look very unfit for this tournament because from a technical stand point they are far superior to the Chinese. Poor preparation and it shows, i think the Uzbeks arrived in Australia a couple days before the Asian Cup started.
