Direct decider for top spot! Iran need the win to get top spot due to overall group GD. Loser will most likely get Japan in the QF.

Sucks that this and Socceroos v Korea, potentially the two best matches in group stage, ended up being drawn to play on the Brisbane minefield.

This game going to be good, my Iranian crew are well into it. just confirming the loser of this game plays japan. I feel both teams could upset japan. UAE and iran are quality.

It's not confirmed, with Japan's last game tomorrow. It might even be possible for Japan not to qualify if Jordan somehow beats them.

Its more the fact that people are hoping that Jordan to cause an upset. But in my eyes, i think potential for iran or uae to do something against japan is very likely. Isn't Iran the best team in asia and i would say have the best coach. They will definitely give japan problems.

Bit of a let down thus far. What a shit pitch.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Holy shit Iranian women have big tits.
Iran are well organised defensively, the Emiratis are having to drop further and further to try and find a playmaker.

So if this stays a draw, and Japan win/draw, it'll be Iran vs Japan in the 1/4 opposite us? Korea must be laughing.

Edited by oman: 19/1/2015 11:47:37 PM Sexy football is winning football..... makes italy one of the most successful international team ever. I think being half italian makes me appreciate this style of football... hate my club to play it, don't mind my NT to do it as long as they play the sexy football (winning).

Am I the only one that likes the Iranian playing style? Very well organised, tight defence and fast physical counter attacks. No time wasting or play acting, it was like watching a team full of Emertons the way they rode any tackle. Their number 6 was brilliant in the screening role and their left side absolutely killed it. Amiri was by far the best on the field.

Amiri was by far the best on the field. I saw it that Iran "parked the bus" 'cause they were frightened of the opposition. I didn't see them play Bosnia (in the WC), but it would be interesting to have seen what went wrong for them in that game?
