I don't see UAE being much of a threat, some of the chances japan missed were just horrific, it was essentially a match played in one side of the field. We should win this tournament now, I'd still be nervous if we weren't playing on home soil but the way yesterday's events unfolded we are in the box seat, japan gone and our other biggest rival Iran who also have the physical aspect that matches us gone as well.

If UAE had wont in normal time I'd be very very concerned.
but I feel we will be fresher and fitter. play our passing game, and if we havent conceded by 60 mins I think we will overrun them.

In the group game against SK we had PLENTY of chances to equalise, this without our strongest lineup on the park. I'm more worried about UAE at the minute. They are looking very organised defensively and going foward, Abdulrahman and Mabkhout are very dangerous.

Edited by inala brah: 24/1/2015 01:31:28 PM None of this means shit. Maybe the most recent match but the rest, no means fuck all. Pointless to use, even going back 4 years ago when we drew against Korea in the Asian Cup only 2 players that started for us will start against Korea on Tuesday (Cahill, Jedinak) Only 7/31 players selected for the last Asian Cup are in this years squad. Let alone going back 14 years ago..

Everyone just needs to calm the F down. All remaining teams have capable scorers, and we still have a defense capable of incredible brain farts of mind smashing proportions. That isn't to say that we can't win it, just that we are still in the same situation as before, beat down the team in front of us one fame at a time

If we win the tournament you will probably be saying it doesn't count because we did not beat Japan and Iran

I don't think we're in the driving seat, Sth Korea have shown defensively they are hard to break down (only team without conceding left if I recall). I think fans confidence though with Japan and Iran out has lifted.

Are we favourites to win it? It's a dream draw. Favourites? I think so yes. We should be better prepared, better conditioned, better rested, our research of the opposition should be better than theirs, our best players are better than their best and if we go up before they do, we will certainly be in the 'drivers seat'.
