I love how the Iran fans on twitter and instagram believe that Australia instructed Ben Williams to make Iraq win the match so Australia wouldn't have to face them in the final.

When really its just Ben Williams being Ben Williams.

On Saturday night there were 4 blokes from one of the Gulf Nations sitting in front of us, dressed in the Keffiyeh and white robes, wearing Australian flags on their backs and waving Australian flags. Celebrated as hard as we did at the final whistle. Absolutely loved this

The expat communities made the Cup for me. Seeing crowds waving their flags in a far off land also made me a proud Australian. That we welcome anyone from anywhere.

Fantastic result. Fantastic game to finish it off.

As far as the tournament goes, I think we hosted it very well. Nothing seemed to be over promoted to the hilt. It was well thought out. Brisbane pitch was the only real let down as far as tournament quality pitches go, the early heat was a bit of a let down as well. Probably unavoidable in any country in AFC.

Best thing non tournament organisation wise... Was we finally got the win we've been chasing since 2006 in Germany and the credibility we deserve to go forward with now. We've been missing this for so long now its not even funny.

The final piece of the puzzle to really solidify the belief in the players minds, the belief that they are not just underdogs anymore, the belief that if they work hard enough they can become quality World class players.

x2

Went to all Sydney games including last night. For me each game really was great to watch. The uzbeki fans screaming their lungs out all match in the behemoth of anz really was incredible. Irans fans were loud n proud.
I'm enjoying the moment (along with the XXXX gold hangover......) and after this tournament I hope that Asian players will get a look in at some of the euro leagues. 2.5 billion people have to produce some football superstars.

The best thing in my opinion is that is has hopefully given (those who weren't so interested before) a face to our opponents. Next time we play Kuwait there is an attachment or feeling. Same in reverse for the Asian countries.

:p maybe now they will start to see we are not against them, they are against themselves=p~ .

I consider myself a diehard socceroos fan, even went to the EAFF qualifiers to see us take on the might of Guam and endured the mess that was Qatar but this Asian Cup exceeded my wildest hopes and dreams. Not just that we won, but the atmosphere at neutral games, the feeling in the crowds, the reasonable ticket prices, I loved it all. I am travelling to every Asian Cup in future.

10/10

maybe I am emotional right now.. but for Aus football that was the very best type of win, full of drama, but also well deserved in terms of the quality of the goals we scored... and ALL of Australia was watching...

Great stuff.. great tournament.. perfect result

Its been a fantastic tournament. Much high class play and fabulous memorable goals.
I think we've witnessed many future stars here and we're so lucky.
I've heard Barcelona and Real Madrid have been scouting this tournament along with Liverpool and a few others.

In the first week or so i was very disappointed by peoples reaction. However since the QF people have really been getting into it! Can't wait for tonight, gosh it would be amazing for the NT to win a meaningful trophy on home soil!

It has almost been the opposite for me.

I have gone to games with friends who don't usually attend A-league games (although they do follow football).

These few weeks have been some of the best in my entire footballing life. I've absolutely loved every minute of it.

Which surprises me, as being fully honest I wasn't overly excited when it was announced we would host it, I left getting my tickets seemingly late, and I didn't really board the hype train fully until I was sitting at Hunter Stadium and watched the Japan/Palestine game. From then on, I've been fully hooked on it.

I don't truly believe that we were the best option for the 2022 World Cup, but man oh man I would have been one of the happiest guys in the world if we were to host that.

I don't really have any negatives for the Cup that I can think of tbh. Free train travel was one of the best things they could have done, I got to see Japan and Australia play at Hunter Stadium, the guys at Across the Tasman have been seeding the games ( ), SantoSam+Ed have had Asian Cup Fever, and I've just loved it all. Maybe if Brisbane's pitch was a little better I would have said it was completely perfect. Also maybe I'll say that throwing a few HAL games in on the weekend was a bit odd.

So I'll give the Cup 9/10.

I also wasn't that excited before the cup but I have enjoyed this more than any other sporting event. Kills the Sydney Olympics and better than watching the World Cup on tv. The only let down was the ABC.

It's been great, and the football has been great. Despite the fact it flew under the radar a bit in the mainstream media, the crowds have been excellent.

I went to the Oman v Socceroos and the Sth Korea v Iraq SF and had a great time. A really well organised event.

The tournament would have been ideal, as I see it, if the top teams made it to the semi finals. I'd have liked to see Iran, Japan, Australia and Korea all in the semis. To me, the semis were a bit of a let down because of the two weaker teams there, i.e. Iraq and UAE. Not taking away any of those two teams' efforts at overcoming favourites in Iran and Japan.

A tournament victory is a tournament victory.
If we win im waiting to see how some people will play it down, saying eg what you said (jap etc) .
This is BS.
I see where you are coming from. I just hope we win.

Some people would complain that "yeah we won the world cup, but we didn't play Germany in the final so its not really as good"

I have Pay TV, so the Asian Cup has been fabulous. However, I always put ABC on when viewing Socceroo games.

I've really enjoyed seeing Asian teams from other countries play different styles of football to Australia and the HAL.

It was also good to see some football played on a Newcastle pitch which looked good. It was great seeing Canberra have some games too. Did Gosford have any on their superb pitch?

The only lowlight, was that Adelaide, Perth and Tassie did not get any games.

I will find it hard to go back to watching the HAL in comparison. International tournament football is for me the ultimate in the sport.

If I had to rate it out of 10, possibly 9.

9/10 Loved it.

Bought the Brisbane pack and was happy to see all the games.
Was not expecting much till the Australia and Japan games but was hooked from the first whistle.

The whole atmosphere around the stadium in all the pubs was awesome. Meeting fans from all over was great and talking tactics with complete strangers over beers was even better.
