Muscovy. Absolutely brilliant animals but can be scary in mating season if you're not used to them. The picture of one of ones we had when I was younger. Used to sit and wait for us to come home from school. Never seen anything more happier than him when he'd have one of us to just sit and keep him company while he chatted away.

When I was around 10 years old I was in an indoor football team with my pals and we entered late one year, so were given the team name Strikers by default. We won the comp, came back the next year, and our biggest rivals who we beat in the grand final who were previously called the Jumanji Red Devils decided to steal our name, as they apparently thought we wouldn't be as good without it  When we entered our team, we said we'd be the Strikers again, only to find out it had been stolen. We had to make up a name on the spot, to get into the system, and at the time I was doing a school project on the wetlands and was telling my Dad about a Freckled Duck and so we named ourselves the Freckled Ducks. The team that were now the Strikers were still a big rival, and they were scummy kids too, but a better team entered the comp that year called the Warriors - and it was between us and the Warriors who was the best. In the semi final we beat the Warriors narrowly, to face the Strikers in the final. And the Warriors kids decided to hang around for it, and cheer us on as we both shared equal hatred for the Strikers. For the entire game, the Warriors kids were chanting "QUACK, QUACK, QUACK!" the whole time, and we smashed the Strikers 6-0!
So yeah, the Freckled Duck for me

I'm a big fan of the Laysan Duck. Sadly endangered It is teal-sized and dark brown, with a prominent white eye-ring. The bill is short and spatulate, dark green with variable black blotching in males, and dull orange with variable black blotching in females. The Laysan duck usually has a ring of fat around its neck. Some males show faint iridescence on the head or neck and have slightly upturned central tail feathers. The persistence of the Laysan duck into the future is optimistic, though threats to the population remain. Threats include the introduction of non-native species, which may change vital rates, displace native species and adversely affect nesting and foraging opportunities. Devastation to vegetation could increase sedimentation of the lakes and seeps that serve as important foraging habitat. Human disturbance may impact nesting and brooding, and landing permits to the Laysan Island refuge are granted only for official or scientific purposes. Debris and contaminants washed ashore by ocean currents could pose a serious threat to the duck. Pesticide containers and oil spills have contaminated Laysan in the past. The island homes of the duck are especially vulnerable to a rise in sea level and extreme weather associated with global warming. If basic criteria of the recovery plan are met, the Laysan duck could be down-listed from endangered to threatened by 2019. I pray daily that the Laysan will soon be a common Duck to be viewed all over North America.
