The problem is that we've loaned out Boruc until the end of the season, so we've effectively lost our 1 and 2. I know most Soton supporters like Davis (as a club person) but don't rate him highly. If Fed went to Southampton he would be behind Foster when he returns and Boruc.

They'd be better off going after Schwazar

Yep the shortlist is apparently being drawn up by Les Reed (head of football development). But can't be at a very advanced stage if Koeman is yet to hear of him. Still some hope there though.

Unless the GK coach or technical director is the one compiling the shortlist, as would often be the case.

When Soton manager Ronald Koeman was asked about this, he first said "Who?" before saying "No, it's not true".

So maybe this one is not looking so likely...

I guess he'd go to #2 whenever Forster is fit again (potentially anywhere from 4 months to 1 year away). Given the range of those estimates and the fact that Forster is highly regarded, it may well be tough for them to convince a 'keeper with a bigger club than Reading to join (and they might not want to spend that much $ either given that it may be only a half-season thing, which also is convenient given that Federici is off-contract at season's end).

They'd be looking at him as a number 2 though surely.

Been in and out of a Championship team for the past couple of years. Didn't do all that well in the EPL when he had the chance. How could he walk into the number one gig at a top half EPL club? They've got enough money to buy someone decent as a replacement too.

Still wouldn't displace Maty Ryan as the NT #1 keeper

A lot of talk that with Fraser Forster out injured for up to a year, Southampton are looking at Adam Federici as a replacement #1. Federici is off-contract at the end of this season.

Would certainly be a big move if he could become an established first choice 'keeper (for one season at least) with a mid-high table EPL club. That being said, it doesn't seem like anything is too advanced just yet. Would be interesting to see him leave Reading after 10 years but with Reading low in the Championship and Federici still with plenty of years to play at 30, maybe now's the time to move on.
