With interest in grassroots football growing rapidly,perhaps it is time to follow an american idea,ie Canine Football,it is a five a side doggy version, and with the right training methods, a watchable game ensues, the dogs love ita nd it gives a chance for dog owners to cheer their favourite pooch in competition.
The smaller breeds such as shidzus and aussie terriers are best suited to this concept.
The US currently has 100 registered dog players,why not here?

Some may say otherwise,but not me,its not about being stupid though,dogs are motivated by reward just as Football Players are they can be trained to replicate within reason what humans do on the field,true the passing game is limited, but the thirty yard run, through the defence is similar.
Many Football fans with dogs would love this idea.

Well only 100 registered dog players in the USA. There are 300 million people in America.

We have 20 million people here. And so the same percentage will be 6.67 dogs will register here in Australia.

So whos up for a 3 v 3 this long weekend? BYOD.

(I know that not everyone has a dog and those calculations are crude, but you get my drift)

And forget the little terrier breeds. I'm bringing my German Shepherd to barge through the defence, or be a big German defender as he was bred to be.

There IS 300 mil people in the USA erebus. None of them can play though. They arent canines. A better stat to throw up would have been the number of dogs in the USA.

Whats that game where they jump over the hurdles then whack that board and the ball pops out then they run back? Dogs can just play that if they want. My dog would be to retarded to hold down a position anyway. lol! How easy do you think it would be to get 5 dogs working together as a team? All going one way in order to score goals? Plus theyd be playing against another 'team' of dogs who would be trying to go the other way. One on one might work but 5v5 would be crazy.
