Clive Palmer, Sage, Tinkler....i call them trojan horses.

How do we prevent anyone similar to the above from getting ownership of future A League franchises...

I mean I think not letting one single person control a club is a good start, like how Victory have a pretty large number of shareholders keeping each other honest. If the FFA told Clive to play nice with the other investors in the Gold Coast Galaxy bid who had connections in the local football community they could have done very well, for example.

I think we've seen enough of Clive Palmer to know that there's only one person he can work with for any length of time, and that's Clive Palmer.

I agree.
When one person is in charge there tends to be irrational decisions to be more likely.

do you really think that Tinkler with all his debts would deliberately sink millions into a soccer franchise over his hatred for the game?

do you think before you post?

ew people not knowing their history at all...

Trojan Horse = Greek legend

Tinkler was seen as an absolute legend for saving the Jets when they needed saving.

If anything, in Tinkler's case we should be blaming the mining boom ending and realising bottomless pits do in fact have an end.

This. Tinkler was a great owner in terms of investment!

Shame he didn't have the right advice.

Also, what's wrong with Sage?!?

If CFG bought Heart why arent other clubs/groups doing this?
I suspect its just a part of the global marketing campaign for Etihad.

Liverpool make $10 mil from the Adelaide game alone, then theres the Brisbane game. Manchester united can do the same and come out every 2 years and charge a fortune and play in different cities on rotation. Perth will have its new stadium soon enough etc. Every city has a big venue. Liverpool could play 1 extra match every 2 years (against their own club) and probably give a club $10 million. Why dont Liverpool invest in Australia or Manchester United? Or even Chelsea. This seems to be the way we are headed.
