Yep, it's Queen Lizzy who decides what our taxes are and implements government policy

You do realise plenty of old timers love the queen and would rather have her as our head of state. Buf you knew that didnt you?

How is that relevant?

I just said that the monarchy has no real power besides rubber stamping what our parliament/senate passes.

He's as thick as bricks...

Wow, can you actually hold a conversation without name calling? Or do you do that to everyone?

It's not hard to understand why you don't like the queen.

You rock a Philippines flag and have used Bosnian flag too before.

Would changing the flag, becoming a republic make you sleep better at night?

Why shouldn't old people or even younger people relate to Australia's history with the United Kingdom?

Im filo, my wifes bosnian . And why would changing the flag make me sleep at night better? I actually no about australian history since i studied it in high school

It seems common here that people who scream the loudest are immigrants or second generation immigrants from non British backgrounds.

What is wrong with having the queen as head of state? Especially if the position is as you said "symbolic"?

Keep calm. We've had Turnbull, Abbott and Gillard for Prime Ministers. Not that much better here.
I've heard the leave campaigners were using Australia as an example of what they could become. Now that's embarrassing for both of us.

wage deflation, earning 15 K stirling less than before ina high skilled job
no infrastructure has been built , roads hospitals houses
political elite home and abroad unaware of issues of uncontrolled population growth ( al least Aus had the big Australia debate in 2010)
companies treatment of workers as the next bus load will arrive at Victoria bus station in the next minute attitude
the number of people on zero hours contracts, companies then get the state to pick up the slack with benefits.

basically people not happy with what UK has become.

Anyway, Britain is going to be fine. Switzerland and Norway are not in the EU.

Greece is and we see the results of this. They are not allowed to engage in Quantitative Easing like a sovereign country is. The end result is higher taxes to the point of increasing the recession. It's a flawed model.

The biggest risk is Financial Market volatility in the short term. But after 2 weeks, the markets will recover lost ground quickly.

The Stirling will recover in about 6 months time.

Great opportunity for Australia to negotiate a FTA with UK. Let's help the poor bastards steady their ship.

Good luck to UK. What they have done is very brave and they should hold their head's up high.

The EU is a bureaucratic nightmare, and it has marginalised many members.

FYI, there are many countries who are members of the Commonwealth and are Republics. Most of them are Republics as a matter of fact.

To become a Republic, there is no need to leave The Commonwealth.

The point that's almost as amazing as the monumentally stupid decision to actually leave is the fact that this even came to a vote. There was no overwhelming pressure for David Cameron to call a referendum, even if there were such pressure he could simply have ignored it, and yet he took the risk for the sake of winning over a few voters leaning UKIP in last year's election.

It has to be one of the greatest political miscalculations of our time, and Cameron will be judged by history for it.

All Monarchies in the Commonwealth are Constitutional because they use the British Crown. The only country that isn't is the UK.

A bit like a plebiscite ?...

 I love the fact you're a monarchist. Not only are your views nonsensical, they're mutually incongruent too.
