This almost definitely means that David Cameron won't get that earldom he has been so eagerly seeking.

He'll be lucky to get a knighthood at this rate

If I read this correctly the poorer you were, the less educated you were the more likely you were to vote to leave the EU?

Or perhaps the benefits of EU membership flow to higher educated rather than those without.

But yes the remain = smart v leave = dumb dichotomy is has a certain intuitive appeal to it doesn't it.

I've heard the leave campaigners were using Australia as an example of what they could become. Now that's embarrassing for both of us.

P.S. Mentioning Gillard with those 2 is pretty insulting to Gillard who actually got things done as Prime Minister

Yeah, nah. Absolute shocker. Despicable person who was hellbent on gaining/holding onto political power and perfectly happy to fuck over large portions of the electorate and to sell out her ethical and political beliefs to that end.

She reduced the age-limit of children whose single-parents were eligible to receive the payments from 16 to 8.

Disgusting. A lot of people all around the country suffered for that.

She tried to scrap a fuckload of funding for cash-strapped universities. No wonder our universities continue to slip down the rankings and our research output is shithouse.

She also opposed same-sex marriage. Do you seriously believe she actually believed that?

Shocking person and one of the most self-interested and dishonest to have led a political party in Australia in recent history. And that's saying something.

She definitely deserves to be in such illustrious company.

Yeah, nah. Didn't say she was perfect, in fact I can't think of one leader/government in my life that didn't make decisions I didn't agree with but that doesn't mean she should be in those scoundrels' league.

My tone was over-the-top. There was no need for a "yeah, nah" on my part.

I agree you'll never find a perfect leader. But it doesn't mean we can't analyse their actions and try to evaluate how good/bad they were.

The problem with Gillard was two-fold. Firstly, her policies did far more harm than good (scrapping of the single-parent payments, scrapping of university funding and stance on same-sex marriage, for starters).

Secondly, she was a sell-out. Progressive on the outside but conservative (at least in the wrong areas) at the core. Gillard did preciously little and just focused on how moronic Tony Abbott was in order to mask how crap she was and how much of a betrayal her policies were towards Australians (and non-Australians) from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Malcolm Fraser, a Liberal PM, was far more concerned with the welfare of the individual than Gillard was.

It's not hard to understand why you don't like the queen.

You rock a Philippines flag and have used Bosnian flag too before.

Would changing the flag, becoming a republic make you sleep better at night?

Why shouldn't old people or even younger people relate to Australia's history with the United Kingdom?
