I spoke to Shane (head of the club's membership dept) at a preseason match last week - he says they should be arriving late this week, but if they don't come in time the club will be emailing members printable tickets as a contingency for the City match.

It's not good enough really. Makes the club look amateur.

Only excuse are for members that have just purchased their memberships in the past 2 weeks.

I renewed mine less than a week after they went on sale and still haven't got it. Not sure what is going on.

I also spoke to Shane just yesterday. Apparently there was a number of people who lost their membership cards last year so they decided that sending them out just before the competition starts would fix that problem. Strange excuse but ...

Well if it's any consolation I bought my city membership in June and it's only just been posted so I'll receive it this Friday..but our first home game isn't until round three.

Just got an email... mine have only just been dispatched today! Then another email to say Ticketek will email out an EzyTicket to everyone cause they are worried not all memberships will get there in time...

Yes talk about amateur...

I got an email 2 weeks ago to say mine was dispatched. The tracking website says that it is still in the dispatch stage.

Hi All,

A few questions in here, so let me try and answer them all.

The delay is in the new Membership System, which has caused quite a few delays for us this season in regards to the launch, Junior Blues, etc. When we send a file off to our provider for printing the cards, packing and posting, we need a file from the system that gives an accurate code of what each Member receives, in terms of card type, pack type, letter type, etc. Little things like 5 year and 10 year members getting bonuses, different letters etc means this file has to be changed each season and be accurate for every Member. Our system provider underestimated the time they would need to provide this file, and we only got it right on September 22, last year it was August 29 for comparison.

The file was processed and posted by the 28th from China, 9,000 Memberships in the first file takes a few days, and we were expecting the packs to start hitting letterboxes last Friday, with the last packs from the first batch due by tomorrow. The fact that none had arrived by yesterday made us decide to ezyTicket as a precaution. We are not sure why they are delayed by Australia Post, it is mystifying.

Believe me I would rather have 45 lost cards by the first game (that is right, 45 people lost their card before the opening game last season) than this delay, but some things in life are unavoidable.

I do not expect the same trouble next year, but I hope you are all satisfied with our contigency plan and focus on the main issue, supporting the boys on Saturday.

Kind Regards,
Shane Porter

They are just giving Sydney FC fans the chance to hand back their Sydney FC pet memberships for when Frank "Drink Drive" Farina gets the nod from the board after an exhausting glibal search for a replacement for Arnold.

Interesting - Just shows the whole exercise, global under-taking, this area can or has become? Obviously much more to it, than some of us realise? Indeed, each member, renewal, have their specific details and additional perks, where applicable and customising all that, season-per-season and arranging that with third-parties - It's obviously not so straightforward.

But given that, I understand fans frustration especially given the long off-season, but then some memberships, member renewals are also confirmed well in-advance of the season too - but flipside it's understandably more cost-effective to do them in batches, as he explained? :-k

FTR I was a later joining member with Glory a couple seasons ago and due to additional delay, had to negotiate and sort our printed tickets on the first home game match-day. Membership was sorted by time of the next home game. This seems par for the course with A-League clubs and some technical or past technical issues at time. Glory have apparently handled their memberships department alot better in recent seasons (I remember that season I received a bowling voucher in my pack which had already expired a month before!).

For all we know he could easily be better than Gombau.

Even I started watching more Adelaide games on TV because of Gombau. Its more about his character than just his tactics. I'm guessing with him gone the fans are starting to doubt this season will be any better. Add to that the bad economic climate in Adelaide at the moment.

Replaced by a Barcelona legend. If United supporters don't sign up because Gombau has taken another job you guys are worse than Brisbane supporters.

It seems now, in the recent couple weeks, that the members have really come back on-board. It must be the usual stragglers or those late in deciding, that see the kind of late surge we can expect to see at all clubs. At AU, with this late surge, they are now much closer to their mark and where they were last season.

And yeah, it's quite possible that little to nothing will be lost with Amor coming in. Amor was originally brought in as AU's TD from Barcelona to oversee the wider technical department and youth programs. He's already been based at and immersed with the club since late last year. So fans can expect a good degree of continuity and sustained progress over in 'Project Adarcelona'. ;)

Infact, some may suspect that Gombau had planned his succession in-advance? :o

I think if we can get 100k members this season we will have done ok.
That'd be a drop of 14k, with half of those coming from the shambles that is Brisbane!

I think we will end up with the following figures by season close:

Ade - 9,500
Bris - 5,000
CCM - 5,000
MC - 10,000
MV - 29,000
New - 9,500
Per - 5,500
Syd - 12,500
Wel - 4,000
WSW - 17,000

Total - 107,000

That would be about 10k down on last season. And would represent a rise of about 15k since Round 1 (last year there was a jump of 20k - so i feel that this isn't overly optimistic).

I'd suggest that CCM would hit that this week. The tracker's always been out for the Mariners, and they were at 4,552 on the 29th. I would imagine that the end of season figure would be around 5,500-6,000.

The positive thing about that is that those numbers seem reasonably conservative. I haven't ruled out Adelaide reaching 10k for the first time. Brisbane could also get back over. 7k if they start the season well, Wanderers may be able to push to the 20k mark for the first time, Sydney should reach 13k at the very least, and City could easily sign up to 12k if they actually prove to be the real deal. Perth should be aiming for 10k over the next couple of seasons.

Great stuff by the Mariners!

Also sydney have cracked 11k! 11,103 to be precise and look set to smash through 12,000 members potentially on game day. If they could reach 13-14k this season that would represent some solid growth.

Didn't he win during his first game in charge at Heart against Victory? Or maybe it was a draw. We'll see how he goes. One game means shit all. At the moment he still has a lot of catching up to do.

Agree with his analysis of the game, but that doesn't mean it would make him a good manager.

I agree it was just one game and all but the manner in which they played away from home could prove people wrong about Aloisi.
