Guam have had a player sent off while conceding a penalty (converted) in the 50th minute - 4 nil to Iran, but it could get ugly now

the #1 seeds should all be comfortable vs the #5 seeds - other than Bhutan most of the minnows have kept the scores to date below 10 and have played better at home
potentially on or more of the #4 seeds could shake things up by snatching a draw or win against the #2 seeds (or 2nd Seed Bahrain could pinch a point from 4th Seed Best Korea) Nice are they streaming anywhere? some of the upcoming match streams are available on the AFC Asian Cup Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXTRFt1vLvZpahQtiKJjLaQGuam vs Iran https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7UitoRivRgT-L vs Saudis - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYayFaqBMY0not sure about the DPR Korea vs Bahrain game Cheers, Looks like the Guam game kicks off about 4.30 and the Saudi game at 9. That's some entertainment until the roos game

Not sure it's been posted before, Ricky Herbert is now coaching the Maldives national team! His first match was a home loss to Hong Kong though.

We might even be guaranteed a spot in the next round before the Jordan game by beating Tajikistan with one match day to go. If we're very high up in the second place table, a safe gap might appear. We're going to be on 12 points on the second place table after the Tajikistan game no doubt. All below is in the view of the second place table system.
UAE or Saudi will probably go through as second in their group.
Syria should end up on 12 points by beating Singapore and getting nothing in Japan and beating last place Cambodia.
Oman have little chance of winning in Iran and Turkmenistan and even then they'd be on 11 while we'll have at least 12. China, HK or Qatar will definitely go through as second in their group as all 3 are so high up above Bhutan and Maldives.
Kuwait and Lebanon don't pose a threat as they both need to go to South Korea and face Myanmar. Iraq are near gone in their group while North Korea seem poised to finish second but go through as I see Uzbekistan taking maximum points.
Such a fascinating state of affairs.
In summary we know that if Kuwait is thrown out Group G 2nd place could end up on 15 points maximum (counting the bottom placed side) while all the other groups could end up with a 2nd placed team on 13 points maximum (not counting the 5th placed side). If Kuwait stays then Group D 2nd place could end up on 13 points maximum as well. More likely (as pointed out above) is that if the bug guns win the games they are expected to then a decent number of 2nd placed teams end up on 10-12 points so 13 points is possibly likely to be enough to make the 4 best. Wins in the next 2 games would see the Socceroos on 12 pts (not including Bangladesh) so a draw in the last match is highly likely to be the most needed unless we slip up beforehand.

Why not have playoffs like they have for the Asian Cup group? Makes me very nervous. We'll need to up the GD in all our games at home. The Bangladesh game will help GD. Won't count as they'll finish last. I think a draw at home to Jordan probably would see us in the top 4 but it'd be a nervous night while the rest of Asia plays. Hopefully Kyrgyzstan see the benefit benefit of 3rd for the Asian Cup and take it to Jordan. As I understand it, the Bangladesh game won't count towards points in the best second place table, but certainly we'll want to pump up that goal difference against them to beat Jordan in our own group too as it will be tight. Palestine raw dogged Malaysia 6-0, East Timor have let a late torrent of goals away to the UAE, who are up 8-0 with a few minutes left.

Uzbek turned it on against North Korea. We're 2nd on the 2nd place table and it's still pretty tight there. Thailand are doing really well and Iraq are in trouble but have a little in hand.

Uzbeks v Norks stream. Should be tasty encounter.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Bangladesh almost nabbed a goal away to Tajikistan. Taji's will win comfortably though. China leading Bhutan 7-0 at half time..
