Apparently they are keen to invite him over and do a transfer fee but Adelaide United rejected it.

They wanted him on a free, not paying a transfer fee... Exactly right for reds to say no. If they want to trial him and pay for him then fine, and he's happy to go then fine. That's ultimately where our league fits in the big scheme of things. it's a decent club, not much better than HAL clubs really, but a better shop window.

But no clubs should lose players for free/nominal amounts.

Twitter is saying he's moving overseas, so maybe they came back with a better offer.

Spends four years at Melbourne Victory, makes ten appearances a season and his talents and ability to unnoticed by the thuggish and brutish coaches who regard him as fairly average.

Moves to Adelaide United, has a breakout season, plays almost every game, wins the FFA Cup, wins the NAB Young Footballer of the Year award and secures a Europe move in one year.

Spends four years at Melbourne Victory, crafted into a fine creative player by the best coaches in the land with the best facilities, recognised as a star for the future although of course it's hard to get starting spots in the best squad ever assembled in the history of Australian domestic football.

Moves to a smaller club for more gametime, and being from Victory he is at such a high level he gets it even though he's competing with the backpacker Spanish coach's own midfielders from his homeland, wins the FFA Cup and escapes Adelaide alive in one year.

A guy who sounds like he knows George Mells well has been posting on FFT and said that Feyenoord, amongst other European clubs, want him and he's already better than a couple players at the club. The main reason he's come back to Australia is because his mother is sick. But apparently, he's more of a CAM than a central midfielder.

One would hope that jeggo gets cap tied to Australia.
Won't be long before Austria knocks on the door, if they already haven't.
