Looks like we’ve gone super attacking to push for goal difference.

+xNo. 17 was Keanu Baccus, Moops. I'd llike to think that Daniel Bouman from Groningen declined to take part in this squad, because I think he's another decent shout for our striking stocks, 12 goal involvements in 15 games isn't too shabby. Has anyone mentioned Anthony Kalik, in regards to him being included in tis squad? would have thought he'd be one of the first names on the team sheet. Cheers mate.

Results against the bottom team for best runner up rankings don't count as Pakistan dropped out, so we'll really have to thump Taiwan even more than Korea did (8-0) and definitely need to draw against South Korea. Only the top four of eleven runners up go through.

+x+x+xHas anyone mentioned Anthony Kalik, in regards to him being included in tis squad? would have thought he'd be one of the first names on the team sheet. He just returned to Hadjuk so maybe Arnie wants to let him settle back in and let him get some minutes. DWH only broke into Brisbane's XI when the squad was announced so it's likely he was left out for the same reason. True, i've just recalled that Kalik was at SFC when Arnie was still in charge and remember him getting next to no game-time whatsoever, so maybe there is a little bit of feeling there possibly? That could be a possibility as well.

+x[quote]Atkinson just looks so comfortable in his natural RB position. So much nicer watching him here vs when Milicic had him playing CM for the Young Socceroos a couple of months ago. It isn't his natural position. His natural position is on the wing.

Hoping we play our weakest possible lineup against Taiwan to save our best players for the big one vs Korea.

Who was no 17, I thought he had a good game? I thought Champness was terrible, I expected a lot more.

We played well, i thought Cambodia didn't offer much but we did the job required anyhow.
I thought McGree played well in this one, he's ability to drive forward and displaying he's decent 1v1 dribbling in creating space for others was useful for us, Piscopo was good too cutting inside but should have scored a goal.
Waring off the bench displayed great touch and link up for a big man, held the ball pretty well and could have scored as well.
Overall it was a nice start, go to keep up the momentum for tomorrow against Chinese Taipei.

Arnie being coach here is good in that they all get exposure to how things are run. Suddenly we'll have a number of players ready to move up in the near future.

@johnszasz
Vujica is a LB and was playing LB tonight.
From what I understand he hasn’t been Newcastle’s first choice LB this season, although was last season (correct me if I’m wrong).
He actually improved in the second half. The first half he gave the ball away a little too often and seemed to struggle with the pitch more than most players, needing two or three touches to control a pass to him.
Compare that to how Atkinson receives the ball. A massive switch from the other side of the field is rocketed to Atkinson and he kills it dead with his first touch. Such a quality footballer, would love to see him fast-tracked to the Socceroos. Just wish Joyce would fuck off so he can go back to getting game time at City.

Olyroos win 6-0. A lovely, composed and professional performance from the team.
Some more random thoughts:
Jordan Holmes looked solid in goals. Didn’t have too many saves to make but handled a few difficult crosses and corners comfortably.
Brandon Wilson was sensational at CB. Has he played there before? I’ve only ever seen him play CDM at Perth but his composure tonight was excellent, as was his Sains-esque passing. Seems very vocal and a natural leaders too.
Koutroumbis came on at RB for Atkinson around 60’ and was unfortunately shocking. Just slow slow slow. He’s supposed to be fresh having come off the bench but the dude legit refused to run. In attack he wouldn’t chase after a through-ball unless it was passed right to his feet, and in defence he would actually stand still on occasion and get dribbled around. Very disappointing as he looked uninterested compared to the rest of the team who were giving their all.
Pearce Waring looked very very good. His time in Japan seems to be going wonders for his development as his first touch and passing were excellent when he came on, and he scored with a nice finish.
McGree and Piscopo are the heartbeat of this team. The two of them assisted almost every goal tonight.
Piscopo very unlucky to score and became visibly frustrated towards the end of the match. Deserved a goal himself but had 3 assists so can’t complain about his performance.
