Not watching. Honest question but perhaps hard to answer so early. Do Syria appear conditioned and good technically? Just trying to gauge the opponents as our side are full time pros in decent leagues and how it stacks up to their side.

How's the midfield going? Would McGree and O'Neill still likely be the stronger squad members? 

Steady - hard to tell though, very little pressure occurring from the Syrians. Da Silva is running riot whilst Popovic is looking to be handy.

What is the temp there? Perhaps they are struggling more with it. 

They look done, especially in defense and should sub shortly after halftime. They will be low because they gave a good effort but are 2 down. 

Managed to get the afc hub up with a VPN but its a disgrace that with a foxtel account you cant stream on Fox Sports.

The Foxtel account is not the same as a Newscorp account, which is what you need to login (and then link your Foxtel account to that).

Decent first half. It's very clear we're more talented than they are, and the difference is clearest in tactical awareness (by that I mean, we have tactics and they do not). I don't really think this is a team we should measure ourselves by. We're winning because we simply have much better players.


Something that's disappointing is how often we go backwards when we don't have to. A lot of players receive facing backwards and don't dare even turn to look for a forward option, just immediately pass back. Better players would feel confident they could turn and face while still shielding the ball, then go back if there is no forward option. Our players clearly don't have this confidence in themselves or their teammates (they rarely pass to them if an opponent is within 5 yards).

It won't show against Syria, but against better opposition being so cautious will lead to an anaemic attack which makes it near impossible to win.


The boys are moving the ball well, and showing better technique than the senior team (most of the time), but that could be partly because of how much space there is. The seniors are impressive when given than much space as well.
