Kuol isn’t good enough up front. Disappearing act. Hopefully we bring wood in and he can act as a false 9 for overlapping runs from the midfielders

We have played some piss weak cheats in our time but my God this is genuinely hard to watch. Please don't make me watch another 30 minutes of extra time aha

+xThat's a shocking tackle. That rugby tackle attempt should've been carded too. If that tackle had stomped any more it'd be a red. The atrocious suck up commentatator actually said ‘ the ref has a good game so far’ . That comment defies belief

Upon seeing the comments about how shit this game was…I had to see it for myself. Living up to the hype so far.

These aren't really fouls. Basically they run into the player, jump and scream, and the ref gives it. If this were against New Zealand they wouldn't be falling like this.

I would take a red card just to stud this keeper in the nuts

Our boys are getting rightly frazzled. This isn't football but we need to be better

Thought you didn’t have to stop the game for injuries unless it’s a head injury just play on they aren’t hurt anyway

Let’s see how often the keeper goes down injured now

It was an own goal. I thought so initially. Teams that sit deep are susceptible to such things.

+xLet’s see how often the keeper goes down injured now Exactly. Look how they're attacking and don't feel pain. A joint protest or enquiry from ourselves, Japan and South Korea will be waved away by the majority of the confederation.

Australian sides really do need to find ways to improve the creativity and ball movement speed to break down these kinds of defensive minded teams. We just seem ti constantly lack the ability to unlock such teams, which just allows them to do those kinds of theatrical tactics that frustrate.
Things tend to change quickly once some of these teams go behind, which can give us far more opportunities to play through.

Francois again like the last game. Some neat tackles in tricky areas while the opponent is making life difficult.

Geez Gauci didn't know where the ball was due to a numb torso from that kick.

After 70 minutes of pure anti-football, the Turkmenis have decided to start playing, and they're not too bad. Interesting bit of sports psychology there.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

If Turkmenistan had tied to play football before the 75th minute I'm pretty sure they'd be winning

Agree, but hopefully this more open style can be exploited by us. After that long being frustrated though, better hope our focus doesn’t drop as they push for an equaliser.

Seems we’ve forgot how to defend after Turkmenistan actually decided they wanted to score

Yazbek lucky there as I think the ref wanted to card him which would've led to a suspension.

Second semi final in history for the Olyroos at the Asian Cup. We'll face Saudi Arabia or Vietnam.
Turkmenistan employed their tactic and it was tough to break down. More urgency and creativity was needed. We seemed better once they started attacked. The semi final will be a different type of game all together.

Won it, but it does raise many questions about how we take the next step in terms of developing players to play against these kinds of defensive structures.
We seem to only know how to play in open play, but once that isn’t available, we seem lost for any ideas.

JRB and Bos were both very good today. Everyone else wasn’t at their best imo.
