Marco Tilio is officially ruled out of the U23 Asian Cup he unfortunately confirms on Instagram. Replacement to be announced tomorrow. Look for it to be Rapha, an extra CB or an extra striker.

Glad we have Milanovic on the left instead with Garang on the right.

There season may have practically been over but now he will help them hunt down the finals. I think bringing an extra striker may suffice as I'm worried how long Mo Toure can last without an injury. Like serious problem, if he goes down we have no other options besides Alou. Maybe they rethink and decide on an extra CB but attacking seems like more of a priority and rightfully so, so it's almost guaranteed to be Rapha.

Not sure about cbs, he might want olyroo experience, otherwise u have matthews as a decent option. His combination with jgr would be handy

+xmauragis rumoured to be the replacement means we have 3 lbs though in principle jcp can play cb Yeah I saw that, I forgot that he was close to be selected. I think it's a pretty significant downgrade from Tilio and I have at least 5 players I would've taken over Mauragis. Bit of a shame as I think he has been generally poor for the Olyroos. Man, if we get an attacking injury we are going to very lack-luster in attack. Already running out of options, really think they should've replaced Tilio with an offensive player.

Rodriguez did well in his one olyroo performance

I would've chosen Raphael but wouldn't play him too much.
But man, this team does not fuel me with confidence to qualify.

Mind you I would have preferred someone with more a league experience to valadon or youlley. We look a bit thin in midfield

Mind you I would have preferred someone with more a league experience to valadon or youlley. We look a bit thin in midfield I think I could nitpick some selections, could use players like Jelacic, Simmons maybe Trewin? I don't understand Talbot over Simmons, make little sense to me and Jelacic has to be in there somewhere. He's a skillset that we don't really have in this team. I don't know who you drop in the midfield for Jelacic to fit in, maybe D'Arrigo and put Hollman as an 8. So it would be: 6: Valadon, Teague 8: Hollman, Youlley 10: Jelacic, Segecic Think this would be stronger. I don't mind Valadon and Youlley as we base them off their performances and not just off of how many games they've played. Especially for Youlley who is 2005 born and barely had a chance, lots of potential there. As in, I'd rather Youlley over an A-League 8 who has played like 20 games but it objectively a worse player. Take the better player in this scenario.

Didn't Velupillay have a great Toulon? I find every time I see him on screen he'S getting into space but whether there's an assist, I can't remember. I agree he doesn't really score. A bit like Kruse. Better he can get in there and not panic and pass back. I find he and Hollman are very unassuming players who've done the hard yrads and now really do well copared to some who have a bigger name. Healthy competition.
As annoying as our omissions are, I can't really dislike any player we have. They've all given it a go to get here and now we wait and see. If anyone I guess Bilokapic's errors and the way Bility can sometimes be are my concerns. Talbot has matured a bit more I think. Simmons has more bite and it's a shame he didn't get in

Simmons has more bite and it's a shame he didn't get in he has actually been consistently electric for olyroos to be fair. Scored in the asian cup qualifiers, scored twice in naurice rovello and scored against saudi/middle east struggled to finish for victory but his general play is excelent (to nit pick, rodriguez general a league play is probably a touch better with better end product). So presumably international form has played a role in vidmars selection which is very defensible!

He said he heard it wasnt a mutual decision, he would have said yes if called up the first time but is now annoyed vidmar painted him as a mental basket case in the national media so doesnt want to play for him Hard to assess the quality of front page footballs sources but absolutely damning if true. If he really did randomly gossiped about a player in the national media then that is a potential firing offense imo even if we qualify. It is unprofessional and bad for player welfare (forget irankundas status, it is just bad practice even if he did this to any of the u23) Unconfirmed at this stage since he didnt name his sources

Terrible distraction for the squad too which need to focus on the games Fa need to wait until the tournament is over and then investigate. I mean if leicesters coach said "look id love to play souttar, but that would be selfish, i cant disclose much but he needs a cuddle everyday so we had a mutual decision not to play him as he is an emotional wreck." Then souttar said "what the? Thats not true" that would be ordinary but he could get away with it if the results keep coming. Vidmar, however is a youth coach and i do think that behavious if true should be a firing offence. All rumours at this stage mind u, we cant verify fpfs source

It seemed like a very obvious decision that if Irankunda was approached after this weekend after the Tilio injury he would decline for the sake of his club. Originally, he would've probably wanted to perhaps but now that Adelaide have won 3 in a row and have a chance to make finals + he wants to play his final games for Adelaide and in Adelaide. It's actually a very sensible decision to stay. Leaving would have let his club down and been a bit of a rollercoaster. At least, he can stay settled and in good form for his club and leave for Bayern with no distraction.

This is astonishing. Every u18 player that makes the top 10 goal involvements in a league history is currently playing with half achieving the record this season https://twitter.com/aleaguemen/status/1777962217297891382Looks like they are counting u18 as being 18 by the league start (I count it by league's end). We don't have assists stats but worth checking in the golden gen Dukes had 17 goals Aloisi had 6 goals in the jupiler league Emerton had 3 goals (2 goals the year he was bennie's age) bresciano had 4 (2 the year bennie's age) Irankunda breaking new ground, bennie perhaps breaking old ground at wing but striker with an early career of those players we may have to wait for, or hope for a later bloomer
