+x+x+xThat touch by the number 23 when the ball was booted into him from behind was beautiful in the lead up to the goal Who is 23? David Bolongi, was the leading scorer for the whole NYC u15 last year. His runs in behind are very good and great power finisher. He’s a weapon Technically no slouch either Would put him with the gk, number 8 and macnicol as the standouts so far What is nyc u15? National Youth Championship, it’s the u15 and u16 state by state champs and is where most of the Joey scouting is done

Bologni looks very physically mature for the age group.

Poor from Oskar (GK) . Gotta grab that. He’s looked a bit shaky with high balls. First goalie was solid

Definitely tired by the end. We win 4-3. Poor defending at times and brilliant defending with Kasumovic and Necovski.
Up next is Inter Milan U17, some of these boys will be playing guys 2-3 years older than them in that again 14 year old vs 17 year old. Big test. Treffiletti plays against U17 Inter at club level in Italy. That will be a huge undertaking to beat them but I think with the best lineup we could make some noise.
I have a stronger understanding on what I think our best lineup is now.
Overall solid and we get the win.

Overall no different to what I saw in the first half, that was impressive the couple late conceded probably masked otherwise a very good performance given it was their hit out as a team plenty of good talent on display.
When are the qualifiers? Apparently the u17 World Cup will be on every year which means more exposure at this level which can only be a good thing especially when results don’t tell the true story at this level.

I hope they have an Australian based camp in the offseason just because there is a lot of talent at that age in Australia and only so many spots, would be good to order the talent with a big 30-man squad.

+xU17 world cup every year is a godsend How many asian teams qualify? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_FIFA_U-17_World_Cup48 teams with no assignments yet by the looks. I'm ok with this being annual as Australia needs more chance to play and look at youth we have. The Europeans have plenty of their own games against each other while we are still dwindling in comparison. The last few years have improved immensely though with the number of camps and games and coverage of our youth teams.

Okay I've rewatched the game and I'll choose a best XI from the performances against U-16 Switzerland as I think our best 11 aren't all here at this tournament. . Jai Ajanovic . Rhys Williams . Jayden Necovski . Feyzo Kasumovic . Christian Pullella . Gianluca Okon . Danilo Treffiletti . Quinn MacNicol . Max Anastasio . David Bolongi . Amlani Tatu Special shoutout to Besian Kutleshi, Nickolas Alfaro, James and Alexi Houridis who were all strong. Obviously this isn't the final form but this is the sort of lineup I'd like to see against U17 Inter Milan. Though, we may need to be a bit more defensive as this lineup is quite attacking.

Some youth football milestones
This time our joeys have 12 players who have played senior npl or higher, last time is was 2
We have a record number of u23 a league minutes this season i believe
Half of the top 10 in a league goal contributions for u18s are from this season and all 10 on the list are u23
In the a league era i count 5 players before now that held down a strating spot in decent euro leagues before 23 and 2 of them were nationalized: ryan, souttar, oar, leckie and gersbach. Right now we have as many the rest of our history combined with triantis circati neiwenhof, yazbek, bos

It got me thinking when the NC was first introduced it was in 2010 then the second version came out in 2014 so these kids would be around 5 years old for the 2nd version, its pretty much the whole pathway from under 5s whilst other generations from the early 2000s generation would have gone through it partially or 75% of it.
And you could make an argument some of these players in this squad we rarely develop or even never had developed previously, so its quite interesting to see fruit of labour from it after all these years.
And its not say there are other factors too especially the introduction of the a-league academies which would have been a factor and has been quite beneficial to Oz player development in recent years, I think the NSD and a-league expansion into new areas with academies could make a big difference in expanding the player pool even more.
