We really do love just rushing possessions and trying to attack asap by just hitting a longball and losing possession again. Stop rushing

That truly is pathetic from Italiano, to miss that easily from there. No composure.

That's done. Indonesia 2-0 and we have a 5% chance of making it now. Officially over. At least Vidmar will be gone. He needs to be released ASAP.
Super unfortunate, he wasted one of our better cycle of players and this is the result.

These players wouldn't score against anyone. The finishing is just poor. Goodbye Paris!

I've turned it off. Won't watch the U23's again unless Vidmar is fired.

We are absolutely dominating just can't finish. The technical level of these guys is excellent just can't get the ball in the net.

Looked up the Olyroos past performances - very very good recent track record. Some outstanding results there perhaps we are being harsh on Vidmar ?

He is 18 without a senior game Great achievement to be here and if he isnt playing up to par the heat should go the selection rather than him (aka why were players with senior experience not chosen)

This could be the first time this group has faced a low block which would explain the results. We aren’t that bad

I put it down to coaching and complacency. The players aren't right in the head. Good results from the past made them overly confident and all the bad luck is seeing their performance spiral out of control. Stupid selections and annoying omissions. Yazbek, Botic and D'Arrigo have so many caps at this level and are all out. Italiano, if he really cared, would've sought proper club minutes somewhere ages ago. Now all the bigger names who would've found it great to play at the Olympics needn't bother yet could and should have looked at arrangements with their clubs ages ago. Japan and Korea can afford European omissions, we can't. The rest of Asia is hardly affected

+x+xPersonally I think U23 is a waste of time and money. To assume we should beat Indonesia is simply arrogance. Why should we be better at football than Indonesia? They have more than 10 times our population and are becoming a powerhouse economy. Football is their number one sport. They have the pick of the best athletes. We don't. So why the assumption of superiority in football? Fact is that all the south East Asian countries are catching up. Fast. We are small country where football is sport number 3 or 4 for the best athletes. It will be more difficult for us to compete as time moves on, and we are seeing that now. These U23 performances are not some kind of glitch after which normal service will resume. And you what? That's a good thing. Strong regional football equals meaningful competition and more interest and hopefully a genuine ACL that means something... If our clubs are ever good enough to compete. Its not all about population. Its the quality not quantity. Otherwise China would have won the world cup. In terms of football they are still C class nation in Asia. Right now Indo are using many mixed blood players. These players grew up in Europe. Indonesia never made it to this last stage of U23 Asian cup b4 and this is their 1st win in their history. They beat the Oz cuz this Olymroos might be the worst team not because Indonesia is any good. You will see they will get trashed by Jordan in the last game. ASEAN teams are still far behind many arab nations. Indo 2-0 up at halftime and dominant. Keep underestimating, the gap is closing fast :)

We arent there yet and may not be in the forseeable future I wonder if all the weirdness about irankundas non selection then inquiry also put them in a bad head space

2023[edit] I think his tactics probably work fine if he had club football experience to learn how to coach players through pressure, and gamesmanship Im not asking for a world beater, the a league coach that finishes 4th can have it no worries

+xHe is 18 without a senior game Great achievement to be here and if he isnt playing up to par the heat should go the selection rather than him (aka why were players with senior experience not chosen) Shows how good Yazbek is. Was good for the full national team and his Norwegian club holds him dearly. It's just so frustrating he couldn't arrange to play this as he'd been away so many times before either in or out of season. Stupid AFC non FIFA window timing. CAR, UEFA, CONCACAF played out of season. CONMEBOL in the early year but like the big guns care with all their talent off the production line. We're in some ridiculous wedge without no thought of properly liaising with clubs about releases. Japan and Korea are fine. They have an abundance of able player they can all upon. What happens in the future? Our players go abroad and don't get called up yet again? They're certainly improving so this seems inevitable. Unless we have a top number of A League we can still call upon, we're in a tricky place. Need to get the coaching sorted first and foremost.

+xTo be honest this is probably the worse Olymroos I have seen. The finishing are just unacceptable for U23. Which u23 afc cups have u seen Historically we have found the tournament tough with 2 group stage exits, a quarters exit, a 3rd only when we had arnie, a net negative for and against and less than 1 goal per game in our tournament history We have been flogged by japan and sk every time we have faved him. Even this 2nd string squad is the best we have ever had
