I think the last 5 minutes shows why results dont matter we have played them off the park and if this was seniors we would win in a cantor but we are down 2 0

From a scientists point of view, people need to understand that the issue of peak height velocity (PHV) needs to be taken into account when discussing players sub 17 years of age.
The FIFA U-17 WC does not control for PHV so no matter your physiological maturation at sub-17 years of age, if you have the talent you can play in the tournament.
These things invariably work themselves out when the kids hit 18/19 years of age and reach full maturity. Many of the physical players drop off because they don't have the skill-set to keep up with the technical players in pro-leagues and the weaker technical players rise to the top.

Great ball by the Australian I thought, should have taken their chance.
Reminds me when Leckie & Oar stuff up in front of goals against Netherlands in WC and then they went up and punished us in that game. History repeating.

Lightening fast counter attacks were the big revelation at the WC 2014. Let's not ignore this part of our game when it's suits the Australian mentality. Not saying we shouldn't be triangling just add that string to our bow.

Twice Panetta has been dispossessed near their 18 when he was back to goal and had an easy 5m pass backwards to a support player. Hair pulling out stuff. Great player though.

Pains me to say this but Australia need to be more "professional" when it comes to defending. These other teams think nothing of pulling out a foul when it suits.

Normally with Nigerians you worry about the shorter guys who can be in their mid 20's but I think now with bone scans they just send a whole set of players who will be 1-2 years older and while they are taller and more developed, but not as old as what they used to have. Adu is a great example of the sort of older player that used to be around.

Developing technical players is not incompatable with counter attacks at senior level the point is you have one period to develop rapidly technically yet physically you can develop at any age same with positional awareness

Notice that Nigeria defend with 2 players (one just off the shoulder of the main defender) when we are attacking out wide? That's where your 1 v 1 skills won't help at all. (And U4 this was what I was on about way back on page 108 or something.) How 1-2's, through balls, 3rd man runs are just as important. Edited by munrubenmuz: 29/10/2015 10:51:27 AM

We are playing not bad but the two goals have killed us, should have made it 1-1 then the sucker punch with the penalty which wasn't needed.
Valuable lessons, they need to stay positive and look to score the next goal.

Apart from Armenakas and Brimmer, who else should I look out for in this age bracket?
For the first time, but certainly not the last, I began to believe that Arsenals moods and fortunes somehow reflected my own. - Hornby
