As much as people think this is a troll thread, I gotta say Buggalugs, this is the best place on the net to keep up to date with the roars sad saga.

Good work...

I too appreciate this one-stop-shop for all my Roar news.

I particularly like the constantly changing thread title.

Still love the Roar though so all you h8ters can keep h8ing. (Have I done that right?)

We're gonna win the lot this year. (Or something.)

Suncorp Stadium upgrade - No indication that there'll be cheaper rent ever

Quote:
THE State Government’s bill to give Suncorp Stadium a technological advance to keep it in the fight to host extra Origin games would be no more than $15 million.

The cost of installing free public wi-fi, internet protocol TV and two bigger screens with superior clarity would be between $12 million to $15 million, industry sources say.
..............

QRL chairman Peter Betros said the bill for the technology was “not that expensive and absolutely essential’’ to attract extra Origin matches and other major events to Suncorp Stadium.

.................................

“Demand from potential hirers shows no sign of diminishing,’’ said Byrne, who said $55 million had been spent on improving Suncorp Stadium in the past decade.

.....................

“In Queensland we will continue to strike a sensible balance between support for increased participation in grassroots sport and maintaining our elite sport stadiums through sensible investment of taxpayer funds.’’
Suncorp Stadium general manager Alan Graham said the State Government had budgeted for a $9.7 million capital improvement, part of which would fund renovations of corporate areas in the western stand which was built 21 years ago.

“These were not upgraded when the stadium was redeveloped for 2003,’’ Graham said.

Brisbane Roar owners extend A-League licence deadline after cash injection

Brisbane Roar's under-siege owners have been given yet another extension by Football Federation Australia after tipping around $1 million into the A-League club's empty coffers.

The money will not land in bank accounts until Wednesday - meaning players and staff have once again been paid late - but it has satisfied FFA and helped Indonesian conglomerate the Bakrie Group dodge the immediate threat of losing control of the three-time champions.

This is despite FFA chief executive David Gallop's warning that any "slippage" by the Bakrie Group in paying wages by close of business on Tuesday would prompt the governing body to revoke the Roar's A-League licence.

"We have sighted bank documents that indicate that the Bakrie Group has today transferred a significant amount of funds to the Brisbane Roar, in line with FFA's direction," Gallop said in a statement issued on Tuesday evening.

"The funds are sufficient to pay the monthly salaries and begin the process to recapitalise the club business.

"FFA's current warning to the Bakrie Group on the status of the A-League licence remains in place until we are satisfied all undertakings are met."

It is understood Bakrie Group representatives have also told Gambaro Pty Ltd and Beecroft Laundry Service, the two local businesses attempting to liquidate the Roar over unpaid debts, that they will have their money within 24 hours.

A court hearing on the matter is going ahead as scheduled on Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, it is believed the Mantra Group is set to begin a wind-up motion of their own against the Roar.

The A-League season kicks off in three weeks, with the sport already in turmoil due to the FFA's bitter war with Professional Footballers Association over a new pay deal.

Bakeries OUT! the problem is this is going to happen at every single deadline. I mean they knew these payments needed to be pay on the 15th. what they do, pay it at 5pm on the 15th. This is going to happen evey single time which is going to destabilise the club even more. I know the FFA can't do anything until newcastle is off their books. BUT FFS HURRY UP.

How so ?

Franchisee is still shelling out for a loss-maker estimating a Capital Gain in a few years

Franchisor sold the license and pocketed $10m

'Fans' could offer to buy the club, but obviously aren't

'Fans' have been happy to watch "their team'" at a discount, safe in the knowledge that if one Sugar Daddy gives up the FFA are forced to keep it alive whilst finding the next Sugar Daddy

Fuck off Bakries. Cheque is in the mail, the kunts are just stalling and giving a big fuck you to the FFA because they know they wont do shit. They waited until the last minute supposedly to send the money, just enough to keep ticking on. The FFA made a deadline, they didn't meet it, grow some fucken balls and kick them out, it was due today not tomorrow.
