Not to mention were getting friggin' press coverage for the first time ever (apart from when the crap was happening) -ABC, C7, and C10 news yesterday all ran a story with footage of the boys training. Maybe the circus woke them up the fact there's actually a football team in town between grand finals??? Even the Mail has run 5 consecutive stories without being negative once ;)

Ahhh yes the false dawn of a JA era. The almighty fall is coming when your team slumps to a massive winless streak. Enjoy it while it lasts. Youll be going backwards while others forward and JA will forever say "we had our chances we just didn't take them we are not far off it"

"Massive winless slump"? Whilst I know a Heart / MC supporters are well accustomed to that experience you may well have a dodgy crystal ball given the indicators so far.

This is the problem, Everything starts out well and then BANG!.....

BUT

Mr PaulC rather than sink the boot in and have a crack at you. I personally hope this is NOT the case. I enjoyed watching them last week. Especially Maclaran. However I always think back to JA in ability to get us out the rut we found ourselves in.

So you go the opposite direction to where the indicators point to?

All I am saying is do not be fooled yet. Let's see how roar are in the win/loss dept after mid season.

Also ive heard he said in an interview or his own fan forum he had no say in recruitment at heart? Can anbody confirm this?

Are "Heart" fans so bitter and twisted about JAs time there that basically you'll create threads like this? Weren't Heart the most underfunded club in the league with pretty much the worst squad squad if cast offs and rejects going? Didn't the Heart board sell 5 of your best players just before the season started to save costs? (Say what you will about the Bakries and the Roar "circus" but at least thru didn't sell players and have made three bloody good signings). Jesus himself might have struggled with Heart surely?? I'd say JvS has all the resources at his disposal and you still had a poor season - why doesn't he cop it on the same way JA is???

Cityfans (heart fans) are very critical of him this year. Expectations are very high and rightfully so. He will cop it a lot of we don't get wins asap.

Yes some heart fans are bitter about his time there. However nobody explained what was happening behind closed doors. All the fans saw was the win loss record and JA was the face of the club at that time.

Ill be the first to admit HEART = Circus. This is why I was all aboard the city train when it rolled in. Off the field now fantastic on well over to you JVS you are being watched.

Interesting, it sounds like the engagement between Heart and its fans was pretty poor back then, otherwise some of this would have been transparent? Roar have developed a knack of backing coaches that others wouldn't touch, partly because of some disastrous big-names in our early days; both Ange and Mulvey arrived with poor records and no-one else would touch them (some fans even opposed them) so JA fits our mould of a coach "with something to prove" and he's got better resources than either of those two had in terms of training facilities, squad - and believe it or not - money now that they have sorted out the FFA underpayment of $750,000 every year. Best of luck for the season.

Heart and transparency are 2 things that never went together, From things like injuries time frames to recruitment announcements to even general information to its members. Youll find if many heart fans sink the boot in to JA is it purely based on he was wheeled out as the face of the clubs on field issues when deep down there was a lot of back room things going on he had little to no control over that came onto the field. BUT end of the day people on match day would see the end score and see JA on the sidelines and think YEP HES THE PROBLEM.
Funny thou when englaar came back and JA was gone they played well with the same people around engalaar - Makes you wonder if JA actually had a crack with engalaar would he still be there.

Melbourne City are the little kid with the rich step-daddy in the school yard. Always picking on the bigger kids and always losing, destined to remain bitter and twisted throughout there lives and always blaming someone else for their problems. Unable to deal with their own issues and failures (despite all that new money step-daddy brings) they instead try and wallow in someone else's misfortune; if City can't be the best in the land it will at least find some one that's worse than them any cry "look, at least we're not the worst daddy" fearful that if they ever underperform in step-daddy's eyes he might leave them and take his new money with him; then Melbourne City might return to how they were as Heart. So when the crisis broke at Brisbane Roar, this wasn't the time for solidarity or empathy or even to help, this was the time to lay bare Brisbane Roars pain, the time to put the boot in, the time to say "look daddy, we're better than THEM". So un-Australian, so heart-less (no pun intended)

This IS Priceless. Melbourne City, the LEAST Australian club in Australia. And with fans who need therapy.

Enjoy the season. I'm out of this thread - it's pointless unless you'd like to talk about BRFC, which you don't lol

All I am saying is do not be fooled yet. Let's see how roar are in the win/loss dept after mid season.

Also ive heard he said in an interview or his own fan forum he had no say in recruitment at heart? Can anbody confirm this?

He talked at length about it when he was asked if he had learned anything from then and if hed quit if he went on a winless streak.

He brought in Orlando and he got injured 4 mins into preseason, he came back a week after they cut him and bossed the league (still dont understand why they let him go)
He told the board they needed to keep Eli Babalj, Aziz Behich, Curtis Good and Michael Marrone on long term deals moving forward because they were the best players/club future - anybody else could be sold - instead ALL of those players were sold and no replacements brought in
He said he didnt understand the size of th role he was taking on or how the management system was set up - he barely saw the board but they made all the decisions, medical department was a shambles, assistant coaches, etc werent his choice

He took his share of the blame, but said he learned he needed to be able to make decisions on footballing matters, which Roar have since given him.

Youre a legend cheers, I did hear he spoke about his heart times. Really makes you realize what a circus heart was. Makes you think IF given the right tools could JA be the right man for a job.

He would of been spot on about players not to sell too. Also as for Engalaar I think they offered him a contract just not marque.

It very true about the heart story, everyone was focusing on aloisi, but there was a lot of problems. Injuries although tough I don't give to much lenancy towards, but the fact the club sold off its best players pretty much made things very much an uphill battle. At least with the roar we only lost brats, but the club allowed him to get corona and the other spanish bloke. Then we also got jamie mac. He has got something at the roar that most coaches dream of and that is a choice of two players for every position on the field. We finally have more play maker options other than broich. The only issue for Aloisi which is a problem for all coaches is injuries and unfortunetly its all 3 of our backline players. But really if Aloisi can't do something with the roar he is going to spend a very long time in the coaching wilderness pending a complete and utter back room implosion.

:)

You've got issues waz. Your club can't even pay thier players. Atleast I can pay to take your mumma out so she can see my technical ability inside the box.

There were more negative comments on Ange when he first joined the Roar.

Yep Heart screwed JA - They basically left him out there to dry, From memory nobody really backed him up when things went down hill.
Youre correct with full disposal of players and backing of the board he could be anything. I dare say he has learnt from his past. 1 win from 1 in the season is a good start.

WHY WOULDNT YOU CREATE A THREAD TALKING ABOUT ALL THE GOOD THINGS AT MELBOURNE CITY TODAY???
