Adelaide United FC wrote:SO, here's the challenge - Matt Danielle Glenn Toby - if you can get 500 likes there's a VERY good chance Wonderwall will be played as a trial on Wednesday night BUT your deadline is 12 noon Wednesday. IF you can get 1,000 likes, there's an even better chance the song may debut in Round 1. Let's see how many Reds you can get on board. Challenge accepted? Just passed 500 likes. Looks like Wonderwall is the new walk out song. It may be cheesy, but it's a lot better than whatever the heck they had last year. It's no Stand By Me, but at least it'll get the crowd singing and there's something of a message that can apply to the fans and the club, I guess. By the way, Neil Cicierega did it best. Anything more than 3 people have heard before will be an improvement on the obscure relic they tried to get to work last season.
Felt sorry for the ground announcer trying to get people interested in that lost cause.

melbourne_terrace wrote:Really thinking outside of the box with that one lads. You can't really talk m80, you just vocalise the bassline to Seven Nation Army when you score. Plus, Newcastle and Perth Port Adelaide had already nicked NTUA. It's still a major improvement over the song they tried last year. When not even an open letter from the always lovable Josep Gombau can persuade your fans to sing it, you know it's shit. But regarding last year's walk out song (pretty sure it was called United We Stand, I dunno it was some old timey bullshit), I'm not someone who uses the phrase "war crime" lightly, but Jesus Christ I really want to forget I ever heard that song. Oh well, at least we have Chase the Sun for our goal song. Edited by salmonfc: 25/8/2015 12:35:28 AM

Red Army has being trying to get this song in for years.
Guess the proof will be who will actually sing it around the grounds.
Give it a season and see what happens. It can't be anyworse than the one from last year that was just really unsingable.
At least wonderwall won't need subtitles on the screen to know the lyrics.

If it's what the fans want, good for the club.
I know some people canned Stand By Me when Victory started using it, but if you were there for several of the renditions at the GF last year, you'd have to say it's a great part of the club now. Even the players sung it on stage at the medal night at crown.
Hope it works out for AU.

Hope it works out for AU. AT the derbies last year at Etihad (more so the 2nd one) every fan appeared to hold their scarf up and sing this song. Maybe if they turned it down on the PA a fraction and get more crowd noise it be perfect. But from an opposition fan point of view you can help but step back and admire the atmosphere it added to the game and the vision of a sea of blue scarfs was again dare I say it great..... So good luck to adel hopefully they can create their own match day experience to rival victories.

OK its a song most fans would know, and is simple to sing, but really has nothing remotely close to do with football or being a supporter at all.

Oh I dream of supporting a club where the biggest decision is what walk out song to choose lol
Wonder wall is a great song, not sure it has the "sticktion" to last a few seasons or more but hey, I support Roar and we can't afford to pay the stadium we play in let alone the royalties for a walk-out song :) BUT irrespective of musical taste, my bet is Roar will finish above Adelaide next season!!

Soon this will be a mandated "initiative from the FFA" in order for all our clubs to be ahem "singing from the same page".
