Somebody posted pictures of the Stadium of Light; I was there in 2007, only time I've been even though I'm a life-long Sunderland supporter. It's a beautiful stadium, although I wish I was old enough to have been to Roker Park as well.

The other special stadium for me is BC Place, home of the Vancouver Whitecaps. The new roof has been on for about 4 years now. I had season tickets here for a couple years, now only get to a few games a season. It has been on the last couple FIFA games, and was also the site of the Women's World Cup Final this summer.

Have worked as a full time employee at several of the major Australian stadiums listed here and as a result of being in the industry, have had tours of a number of others.

I've joined in a full field staff game at ANZ when the football posts were still up after a friendly. :d
Had a 1-1 with the keeper but fucking pushed it wide from the top of the box

Shit view, badly sloped, running track

No-one fancied a prospective half hour trip to the "Gents" so 2nd half was spent standing in the piss running down the terrace

Most outrageous bit was that the original bid for the stadium funds placed a high importance on retaining the iconic towers as part of the external facade... But as soon as the bid was won and the decision made to build the new national stadium in London, they suddenly ditched retaining the towers as too expensive and no longer inkeeping with the new design.

Milk Cup Final '85
Play Off Final '90
FA Cup Final '92
Play Off Final '98

Horrible memories of the place!

Glad to see a few others have pointed out that whilst iconic, it was actually a rough as guts venue to watch football. Bad seats, poor leg-room, views toward the rear limited by the Olympic Gallery that was added in the later years (essentially, if you stood up you could no longer see the other end of the pitch). Under the stands the toilets were PortaKabins mounted on bricks. Still little to compare to the atmosphere and build-up you get walking up Wembley Way.

Shit though. Old wooden seats, knees around your ears when sitting and miles and miles from the action due to the running track. Went and saw England play France and sat behind the goal up in the sky in the second tier. Would have had to have been well over 150m to the far goal.

As luck would have it England lost 2-1 to France with all 3 goals being scored down the other end. England scored late too so there was barely a murmur when the ball went in.

Haven't been to the new Wembley but it'd have to be a better viewing experience. (Old one was prettier on the outside though.)

Fun fact: every one of the 90k seats at the new Wembley has more leg room than those in the Royal Box at the old one.

Done the stadium tours of Ewood Park and Nou Camp, both awesome in very, very different ways.

Walked around AAMI park and cracked the biggest fatty just looking at the stadium.

BC Place in Vancouver is Fucking awesome. Place is absolutely electric when Seattle come to play.

Great stadium, love it. (I remember going down there as a kid with my old man and uncle to watch Sydney Olympic play games at Brandon Park and the occasional one at WIN or I think at the time it was called the Showground or Steelers stadium.)

Unfortunately at the time of Super League, the Steelers were almost broke but how things changed. Now they are flush with cash and the Gong is growing in leaps and bounds. With the Dragons being based in the Gong for the best part of 10 years now don't be surprised if they end up playing more games there with the rest being spread between Kogarah and the SFS/SCG.

It's a massively under-utilised stadium and it's in a cracking area.

Wollongong got dicked by the Super League war and SGI Dragons only play a couple of token games there now.

I still maintain that the grass hill should eventually be roofed and turned into a small single tier standing area like "The Shed" stand at the Kingsholm Stadium in Gloucester.

Disagree. Keep it as is. Its great being able to stand on the hill then at half time wander over the other side and watch the weather roll in. Especially when there's a storm. The freezing wind and rain should be an expected and enjoyed part of the experience just like they are at Shark Park.

Hey for people like me, the place is great and I'm happy that there is a big open standing area along the goal line. Personally i'd just rather stand on Wet Concrete than in Mud if i was given an option.

You only have to turn on a NRL game though at that Suburban NSW ground to see how quickly hills are abandoned when it starts to rain. The magic of the Leichardt Oval hill is quickly forgotten and traded for the comfort of the living room the second it starts to spit for a few seconds.

It's all well and good for us to say that people should cop it, because people like us have grown to enjoy the shit experience. For all the other plebs, they at least want basic cover from the elements.

Something I failed to mention about WIN which enhances it's level of awesome is it's within like a minute walk to Chickos.

Sensational stadium.

TBH Seeing WIN Stadium back in the National domestic competition is as-much of a reason why I'd want to see a Wollongong/South Coast in the A-League, then any of their other entirely legitimate reasons!

Would be a great away fixture, for travelling NSW fans, rivalries and even to view on TV. Very vaguely remember some Wolves NSL games, evening fixtures, hosting Glory and other teams over there. The A-League has been missing out on this, ever since.

If the next expansion were to be Canberra and South Coast/Wollongong, then that won't be such a bad result, not at all. Queensland can always be re-visited come expansion to 14.

Some I've been to

Stadio Nereo Rocco, Trieste - built in the 1990s, good stadium but starting to show it's age a little bit. Shame Triestina who play there are a basket case and have gone bankrupt a couple of times in recent years. 30,000 seat stadium for a team in the 4th division #-o

Commerzbank Arena, Frankfurt - interesting stadium as it has a tent like roof that they can close. Was there for South Korea v Togo game in 2006 and they closed it to keep the ground in the shade. Instead it made it humid as
