A defence with two full backs who forget that they're not wingers and subsequently get caught out, fans who are turned away by drizzle one week after declaring Hindmarwh as the best stadium for football in the country, an attack that couldn't finish a wet dream, a CEO who boasts about having the capability and the funds to lure European stars before buying Mate Dugandzic and most importantly four dropped points in two games and just two points to show for their efforts. Obviously these are early days and the club is adjusting to a new manager, but these are still arguably small problems that could turn into big ones. They may not be in crisis mode, but they aren't where they want to be and frankly should be. Edited by salmonfc: 13/11/2015 07:28:10 PM

Well, you might as well join the MV brigade since you are still digging the boot into Adelaide. If you don't you will be banned for saying anything against the club without any reason given.

There is a reason I, an Adelaide fan, picked Adelaide to come tenth. It is quite clear the club has lost the plot both off and on the field. So many stupid decisions are being made and combined with the loss of Gombau makes things very bad. So the answer to the threads question is an undoubted yes

Adelaide fans are amongst the dumbest in the A-league. FIrst undefeated team to be awarding themselves the wooden spoon. I think Adelaide needed to get an experienced center back because Malik is scatter brained, Dylan McGowan did a good job of covering for him but you would prefer someone who is able to stop Malik's errors rather than make list ditch tackles to compensate for them. if La Rocca was hired as a center back then they must be nutters, what was evident at WSW is how poor La Rocca was there. La Rocca is good in the midfield,he has the mobility to play in the midfield, and he can just run around and hack people there. The other big issue is Babalj, I thought there were signs of an increased effort against Victory in the first half, but this match he went backwards. If your going to be relying on a high press then you need everyone to join in, they are doing what Brisbane Roar did last year with lazy strikers. If the money has been spent on La Rocca for center back and Babalj who might be this lazy for the whole season, then they might as well have tipped it down the drain. I suppose at least they can bench Babalj and start Djite. The only positive for Adelaide is Dugandzic but Dugandzic's main quality is work rate and lasting for 90 minutes. Without Dugandzic against MV it would have probably been a 3-0 loss. Against WSW he wasn;t started and then others ran out of juice.

Wanderers were better in the final third its just that McGowan saved Adelaide multiple times.
Babalj was just dawdling around.

Obviously these are early days and the club is adjusting to a new manager, but these are still arguably small problems that could turn into big ones. They may not be in crisis mode, but they aren't where they want to be and frankly should be. Adelaide has got 4 challenges imo: (1) adapting to the loss of key players (2) the loss of a great coach (3) adapting to a new style of play under a new coach (4) fitting Eli Babalj in Looking at them last night they had flashes of their old quality so the ingredients are there, then there were some uncharacteristic lapses of misplaced passes. The biggest concern last night was perhaps the merge 7 shots generated which is un-Adelaide like and has perhaps been consistent in the last three games including the FFA Cup match. I think Babalj will be good for 7-8 goals this season but at the same time I think Adelaide will have to adapt their playing style (more high balls into the box?) to get that which may cost them an equivalent number of goals elsewhere. Crisis? not yet, judge all the teams after 5 games when the patterns are clearer - Perth and Roar away then City at home offer 5-7 points if Adelaide can find their form, and their shooting boots ..

Constantly underachieving, can't win the league but try to make up for it with cup wins, bottle it against the big rivals, perennial injury woes, strikers are shit and top goal scorer is Own Goal. This can only mean one thing... We're Arsenal! \:d/

Four shots in total across the first two games, both strikers are injured, main goalkeeper is out injured, the is proration and motivation from Gombau is gone, tickets for regular season matches are more expensive than tickets for UEFA Champions League matches and two of the four signings made during the off-season are out with long term foot injuries. All the while Greg Griffin lies and talks shit to the fans, whinges about transfers and salaries, claims he could sign big stars like Luca Toni or Steven Gerrard, works his loyal employees so hard that they have to resign due to health problems and take up less stressful jobs with other A-League clubs and drunkedly tried to hit on the Travel SuperStore girls he hired.

Looks like they are doing a Brisbane Roar from the Coffee Club days with ticket prices. That would explain the attendances plus poor membership numbers.

Norhern SPirit used that tactic and they even got Slater and Arnold to fall for it.

Am I right , in saying that this is Amor first senior gig as coach... some slack needs to be cut here for him and that the players should know this..
However i think the real problem , is the people running the club... Gombau and Petrillo have left the club, due to their own reasons ,but surely there is more to it. As Griffin and co have balanced the books, and made the club financially stable ( although occassionally griffin opens his mouth ) , from a football dept, there is rumblings and those need to be addressed now, as on the weekend, we saw the impact it has on the playing team

I can't help but feel it's a typical Adelaide fan reaction - we lose, and all of a sudden it's the end of the world. I won't deny it, I think there are some pretty obvious signs that things aren't quite as they should be, but it's Amor's first year and we're three rounds in..

What's the record for a team not scoring? Must be close now.

I think Adelaide are being careful with George Mells as its a long season, and the Spanish players are prone to injury. He will make a big difference when he gets good game time.

Confirmed. Bottom of the table with no goals and next to no chance of winning at home against City on Thursday. Thanks Griffin for forcing Gombau out, over working Petrillo and calling all the players greedy.

Griffin is backing Amor in the media, but I wouldn't put it past him to stab him in the back at the end of the season despite the club's #TrustInAmor pre-season social media campaign and hire JVS when he gets sacked by City. Fuck it, put money on it.

Brilliant player technically, but suffers the same problem most of our team does - they're mentally fragile. As soon as they're up against it they don't have the resolve to dig their heels in, do some dirty work and get back into the game. They just drop their heads.

Carrusca did start on the bench and only came on for Mells at about the 65th minute. Having said that he still didn't do much.. Edited by GrandPappyOfFunk: 13/11/2015 09:28:21 PM

Amor was reportedly given three games to turn things around after the loss to City. The first of those games Amor's team lost 4-2 (again) to the Phoenix. Next game is at home to Newcastle before travelling to the Etihad to face Melbourne Victory. Doesn't look great for Guillermo Amor.

Three game limit has isn't true. Dom Rinaldo said that he thinks Amor will have 3 games on DFS during the week and people thought he meant that Amor has so little time. I will try and find a link so you can see what I mean.

The idea of promotion & relegation by introducing a 2nd Division A-League sounds good but it has become ridiculous how much a it costs to keep a club alive in the A-League. In reality relegation & promotion has really worked very well in England, Germany, Spain, Italy & maybe France. There is fanatical support in those countries of their football club no matter what division they are in. They love their club because it has been part of their life from the day they were born & have gone through good & bad times where every loss hurts. Now in Australia we create teams overnight & expect fans from that region, city etc to fall in love with them. Clubs need time to grow a history, tradition etc. Don't look at the WSW because that will not happen anywhere ever again.

Seeing as there's already an Official trouble Thread The A-League’s silly season is in full swing, and while the mounting off-field issues at Western United and Brisbane Roar have taken centre stage, Adelaide United’s impending ownership change has come as a surprise to many. Long regarded as the most stable club in the league, United supporters were aghast when news broke to the media that local South Australian identity and convicted criminal Kalpi Prasad is nearing the end of negotiations to purchase the club. https://www.theroar.com.au/2025/06/16/the-former-convicted-criminal-making-a-play-to-buy-adelaide-united/For those with a Tiser Sub
