After a stint in the wilderness and abroad, moving back to Sydney to finish studies. Looking at inner city areas. Any recommendations for how to get going, where to look?

My most hated thing in life is moving house. So many things to do and think about.
Quality thread - I'm sure plenty on here will have helpful hints to share.

Argh! moving! I hate every bit of it!! Good luck with it..
As for area's i lived in Camperdown for a good while in my single days.
Great area, you can walk to many a pub, bar or station. Everything is close but not too close so you can enjoy some peace and quiet too.
The good part of that area is the array or old and new building so it gives you flexibility with the budget.

Bummmmmmmmmmp.
So by the end of Jan (potentially as early as the 15th) I'll be moving out of home.
Tried to suss out a few other options but they've all fallen through so it looks like I'll need to find a share house at about 130 a week (max).
Positives:
I have a fair amount of savings that I will be able to live off for probably 9 months.
Have a car.
Negatives:
No job.
No car license.
Will be going back to uni full time to complete my honours.

Hate getting the internet and TV switched on. Here you'll need to confirm if a cable has already been installed and that it's connected to the source which is locked up inside a box in the cellar. This means setting up an appointment to get this done and waiting for a technician to check the entire connection which requires access to the apartment.
The last tenant lied and said a cable was installed which had all visiting technicians stumped why the TV wasn't working with our receiver connected to the wall socket. Most blamed the provider (sky) until one finally took it off the wall he discovered a cable didn't even exist. It took 16 weeks after moving in due to unavailable technicians and incorrect delegations. Bloody bureaucracy meant although he was capable of fix our problem, he wasn't permitted due to being designated a different task.
Add packing boxes and the rest moving really sucks.

MrBrisbane wrote:I applied for a Home Loan through ME Bank and after 3 months of fucking around i was denied, what a wast of time. From the very start they were very picky, i should have left after a month but i held on just in case. Now i am going through my actual bank I've been with my entire life, St George. (Something i probably should have done in the first place)
It has only taken 3 days and all the paper work and information has been accepted. It has been passed on for assessment today so hopefully i hear the outcome in the next two days. Customer service has been excellent, fast response with email interactions and really has been good experience so far compared to the clusterfuck at ME Bank.
Highly do NOT recommend ME Bank to anyone going for a Home loan. I've personally never had a problem with St George. They've always been pretty good.

That place just sounds like death. As does Mt. Druitt, and Airds.
