Premier League / A History Of 10 Matches - Jim White

I just haven't been able to get into this book.

We now live in an English speaking country, Australia, where most of our recent football methodology has been imported from non-English speaking European continental practice.Given I've lived in England, and have plenty of English relatives, it seems an alien world in football culture.

That is apart from the  current Gareth Southgate/Steve Holland era and European influence in more English clubs in  recent times.

Having said this, many reading this would probably love this book.

Zonal Marking - Michael Cox

This isn't about the title Zonal Marking. 

It is an excellent book though, similar to Inverting The Pyramid.

It starts  with the KNVB, and the competing Cruyff and Van Goal schools of  football philosophy for hegemony at Ajax Amsterdam, Barcelona and the KNVB.

It progresses  to   the dominance of Italy, then France, Portugal, Spain, Germany  and the recent emergence of England with a cacophony of imported European styles. 

Another beauty is

Zonal Marking - Michael Cox

This is as good and essential as Inverting The Pyramid and Soccernomics.

It starts with the KNVB and Dutch dominance, followed by Italian ascendancy in the nineties, ensued by French dominance , etc, until it concludes with the current surprising English success for different reasons.

Michael Cox used to write game analyses on the site Zonal Marking.

This book is not all about Zonal Defensive  Marking compared to Defensive Man Marking as the title suggests!
