No, I'm saying even if he knew about the steryotype, thats not the joke. If instead the kid ate 20 apples and became famous that way, Gayle would have an apple in his mouth. Or, if it were a white player to have embarrassed himself by hitting on Mel, the cartoon would be the same but with a watermelon in the white players mouth. To not make a joke because it has a double meaning not necessarily intended is self censorship. Not something I'm a fan of.

I try not to pull the race card unless theres no other explanation which in this case there clearly is. Taylor is Australian, Gayle isn't American, 2 days ago he made another comic about watermelon boy and I haven't heard anyone point out Taylor having a history of racism, just that he works for the hun.
