I highly doubt it will be a 33 game season though. How do you feel about 22 games with a pre and post-season until we get to 14 and 16?

I wouldn't imagine the FFA would want to just go for an 'eleventh' team, as it would mean a bye. It would add no broadcast value.

But 12 teams, as you say, would work. It might be their only choice. It'd mean a sixth match each week, and more bargaining power.

A merged /shared club would be a massive failure. Unfortunately the metrics aren't there for Wollongong, the talent in the IPL would be close to that of NNSWNPL plus lots of great football infrastructure in the gong also.

3 Sydney 3 Melbourne would be ideal.

Absolutely, supporters would come out of the woodwork. I could see them having the angle tying their history and appeal of an "authentic" club, as such. Would expect a kind of hipster effect in Melbourne, people finding ties to South from before they were in the A-League.

Really, with up to 4 derbies each season, you'd absolutely expect 10k.

Not in a million years would south overtake victory, honestly the idea is absurd even if we won the toilet seat every year.

We wouldn't need samaras to average 10k, we had just under 4K on Sunday for park football, the national spotlight alone would tip us close to 10k.

If a third Melbourne club is doable and has potential for growth then bring them in but give the Wollongong wolves an a league license. I just want a 12 club competition. both Sydney clubs would take a lot of support down to Wollongong on away games. I think the crowds would be very decent down there. They have a great stadium for it, seems almost too perfect

why the need for a new franchise?, there's a perfectly good A-League license ready and waiting to be bought, it's called the jets

I wouldn't classify Newcastle or Wollongong as regional NSW. They are major cities. Regional NSW is Coff Harbour, Dubbo, Griffith, ...

If we want a feel good regional story I say NQ.

We don need another regional nsw team.

Wollongong would be perfect but I'm sure the FFA would never let it happen. If it did it'd be a shithouse merged club shared between South Sydney and the Gong.

Fair enough. But as someone mentioned in another thread (Benjamin maybe) it's more about corporate/sponsorship and tv ratings than attendance. I'd assume a 3rd Melbourne team would beat a Wollongong side on both counts

The money in local football is already there. A strong football culture is already there.

Obviously, Victory is fine - they are the mass-support team.
City- what is their identity?
New club - if it was South, would that kill City? Or would it give them an identity in opposition to the new team? I don't know...
