You probably support refugees, despite the fact the government pays them more under current policy than they do pensioners. You want to punish an Australian citizen who paid taxes their whole life and earned enough money to own property from claiming benefits because of that? You are a stain. And you call yourself a Libertarian. Mate, that sort of talk is unacceptable by any standard. Pull your head in and get a grip. I sometimes forget that the majority of the people on this forum are late teen, early 20's impressionable kids without a clue of what life is like outside their small social bubble. 11.mvfc.11, I challenge you to go back my original 2 posts and create an argument about what you disagree with and what you think my opinion is not considering. Fun Fact: This is a policy that David Leyonhjelm endorses. He's not the only one on this forum that has a weird idea of what it means to be a libertarian  I actually think there's some merit in that policy regarding your home and the pension. I don't think it's fair to make someone sell or reverse mortgage their house that they lived in all their adult lives necessarily but surely the asset test could have a scale so that the longer your name has been on the title (or your spouse if they've passed away) the more valuable your house is allowed to be (maybe unlimited value if the title is 20 years)? I haven't thought this through completely and no doubt there will be some problematic scenarios but it sounds fairer. This is actually a really good idea and was floated as possible policy by the Labor party not too long ago exempting the principle residence of a Pensioner in the instance that the individual had resided in the property for 25 years or longer. However, the implementation of such a policy would create more problems than it would solve and I believe the monitoring of such a policy would cost more money than it would save. Many people use their principle residence as an investment property at least at some point in their lives, rural property owners sometimes have to move off their land when they can no longer physically care for it and alot of elderly people have to move from apartments where they find it difficult to walk up and down the stairs (but are physically and mentally well enough to not need Aged Care). And there are also those people who are forced to move from state to state for work purposes. You could implement a policy where a person would receive a Principle residence exemption if they owned and lived in any property for longer than 25 years but in reality, that would lead to a situation almost identical to what we have now just with more bureaucracy. Reverse mortgages are not a great alternative. I rarely recommend them and would only suggest them to a personal who intends to live out the rest of their life in their home (usually a single story home with relatives/children living close by) and can't maintain a comfortable standard of living of the Age Pension alone. Most Reverse mortgages will restrict your right to sell your home if you want to. I think the simplest way to lessen the cost of providing social security to an ever aging population would be to change the classification of the principle residence to something similar to an investment property upon the recipient receiving their first Age Pension payment using the value of the home at the date of the first Age Pension payment as the effective Purchase Price. Upon death or sale of the property, the government could then recoup the lesser value of accumulated Age Pension payments or Capital Gain since first pension payment. The reality of the situation is that there needs to be less intervention from the government so that investment banks/managers have the incentive to create some new products which will allow peopleto unlock the equity in their homes. WWE wrestlers should be eligible for Emmy awards
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

I don't think he is typical of his generation... but he is typical of every self centered egotistical fuckwit tennis player that ever thought they were remotely good.

Case in point, just seeing a fourth round match from roland garros (doesnt matter which match), its as white as a golf tournament, and the players personalities are as banal as a snooker tournament (even though I do love snooker)

I have no interest in pets- dogs, cats, whatever. I don't find them cute, i don't find them entertaining. Owning one would be a chore to me.

My apparently unpopular opinion is chicken parmigiana isn't that great of a meal, and not worth the debate of how to pronounce it.
Give me a regular snitty with pepper sauce any and every day of the week over a parma/parmi.

Parmigiana is an Italian meal made from eggplant: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ParmigianaAccording to Wikipedia it is "also parmigiana di melanzane, or melanzane alla parmigiana or parmi". Chicken Parmigiana is a (delicious) American invention: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_parmigianaWikipedia wusses out on picking a preferred shortened version: "Chicken parmigiana, or chicken parmesan (Italian Pollo alla parmigiana) (also referred to colloquially in the United States as 'chicken parm' and in Australia as a parmi or parma) is a popular Italian-American dish".

The cheese is also from Parma. But the word is derived from Parm igiano It's Italain I speak Italian Phonetically speaking it's MUCH MUCH closer to "ee"than "ah" in the context of the word parmigiano(a) Quote: I've only ever heard Parm ah san. Sorry, this makes no sense anyway and just shows you hear/pronounce the word wrong anyway as even in english the cheese is parmEsan not parmAHsan Edited by davide82: 3/6/2016 01:50:36 PM
