Our power never went off with the fires and it got extremely close I remember during the fires my dad got interviewed by channel 7 and then they filmed me watering down the side of the house and said that it would only be used to say this is what you should do they then bloody show me on the news in my shorts and a t-shirt (i was 6-7?!?!?!?) saying this is what not to do i hate channel 7
but i think we packed up computers, photo's, tv (maybe), my trophies (i insisted on them ), our pet, clothes and some of me and my brothers stuffed toys just the sort of stuff thats invaluable like the photos was the first thing we packed up

That's quite an extreme figure. There's thunder and lightning now too, which won't exactly please the poor firefighters. Atleast tomorrow should be cooler if they can get things happening on that front and atleast get things under control. MFB are being called in overnight too, I saw about eight fire trucks on the way home from work.

Yeah we lsot 50 homes in Bendigo, I just checked the updates on the net, the fire near my home has been contained but its still going and ember is a worry. Hats off to the CFA and MFB though as well as ordinary citizens, when we were out the front of work their were average joes with water on their utes dropping it off to the CFA and water tankers from all around were coming in as well as caterers offering their services for free to the fire fighters and anyone in danger or who helped

Just checked the news, at least 25 are dead now and they do fear it will reach 40 and over 100 houses have been lost across the state

Far Out. I feel for you Victorians. I live in Canning Vale, about 25 minutes from Perth. It's a bid suburb, but it's about 15 minutes away from the bush land. The closest bushfire's have come to me was a couple of years ago when there was a fire near the back of my school, because that's near the bush. I got the day off from school, as did everyone. A couple of my mates were on the bus and apparently, the bus drivers dumped them at a nearby supermarket and drove away. That was awful, because the supermarket had no shops, and they were just stranded there. Unfortunately, that's as close as I can relate to you guys.

26 now confirmed dead.
My uncle went to Marysville for his birthday yesterday. He got home about 11pm last night, with THE BACK OF HIS CAR SINGED. The place he was staying is now no more than ashes. Got out at the right time, it would seem.

Death by bushfire seems like a rather torrid way to go. I feel for the families. The best and worst things about my day seem comparitively mundane.

They should make the fire bugs fight the fires on the front line and see how they like fighting what they started

Shit. My dad was going to houses yesterday and he said he saw this crazy thing where a family ran out to the car as a wll of fire completely encircled their house trapping them, the heat was melting the car before the flames got there and a man grabbed his Gf and her 2 kids, wrapped them in wet blankets and chucked them into a dry dam wear the fires rolled over them and they all survived. And one of his chief photographers house burnt to the ground and it was a historic family home. He and a photographer jumped into the house of close friends and pulled the kids out while the flames came around. Its epic stuff, really frightening even now just on the way back from the train station you can see tons of damage and in one case there are flames barely 30 meters from one of Bendigo's hospitals where victims would have been taken to escape the fires. On another note Best: saw my mate in hospital and we the other mates I went with had a great time in Melbourne just mucking around Worst: just hearing that people I know have lost their houses including friends who have already lost a house before
