he's in a pretty cushy role atm, decent coin and no pressure.
He stated in an interview that he enjoys coaching kids more than seniors so it would be unlikely imo. Would be the almost perfect coach for City though.

i really liked gombau did with adelaide - but I dont think he is going to win titles in a hurry. any club could do with the heart he bought to the game.

he would be a fkn great assistant coach.

i think we will end up as a training ground for a big name former man city player coming into coaching. they will line them up with a decent experienced assistant so we can actually win. probably not gombau.

Gombau took a while to implement his new style at Adelaide. The first year is likely to be a write-off. Would City have the necessary patience?

I think JVS will find a way to talk his management out of getting his replacement

This. Even if he wasn't telling the truth when he said that he left for family reasons, he still deserves the utmost respect. God knows where Adelaide United would be if it weren't for him. Probably being coached by Kosmina again.

I will lose complete respect for anyone that doesn't show Gombau support if/when he comes back here. Reason we are where we are, would be seriously struggling if not for him.

Apparently he felt disenchanted when Griffin said he felt the players were being greedy during the pay disputes for the Liverpool friendlies (while Gombau was on their side) and felt that the board wouldn't give him the funds needed to fulfil his plan, so he left.

Didnt he say he wanted to be closer to Europe due to his family which is why he left in the first place?

Ayy maybe now Melbourne City will have some form of culture.

Would certainly do a better job with the resources than JVS.

Hearing that Gombau is being lined up to take over at Melb City. If this is true then this is great news for both Melb City fans and the A-league in general. Not only is his style of football so great on the eye, but his personality will be a big injection for a club that's had to deal with the ever so quiet and boring JVS.
