Makes me lol. When united bought rvp. City bought clichy and nasri. Chelsea bought Cashley . There was no outrage. Yet if arsenal do buy vardy its wrong.

I agree with inala and to answer OP's question no. Leicester's win, as said was an abnormality, that could have only been completed with that squad.

Four possibilities:
-He takes Giroud's spot (unlikely) - Wenger changes formation and plays both up front (unsure?) - Wenger plays Vardy in a different position in the 4-2-3-1 system (a damn stupid idea, as the England game showed) - Vardy spends much more time on the bench. (Almost certainly).
It's a tough one. Vardy is best when he's running in behind defenders. He needs to play in a club with the right system. Arsenal is probably the best place out of the big four for that. But is now the right time to go?
Why would you move now when you're guaranteed to be the main striker every week in a championship defence and the champions league?
Also, if he rips it up in those tournaments plus Euro 2016, he could be the first choice striker at almost any club he wants on even bigger money than Arsenal are paying now.
Edited by lastbroadcast: 7/6/2016 11:08:06 PM If he is scoring regularly, why is it unlikely he replaces Giroud? If he rips up the EUROs, why on earth would Giroud start ahead of him? Giroud might have the gloss but results are all that counts

Despite what people think of us and our lack of "success" we've been qualifying for champs league for every season under wenger. Constantly top 4

yes agree with the Henry comment. Vardy for 20m Wenger wouldn't get a better striker for that price. if Leicester didn't want him to leave why wouldn't they put the release clause to 50m.

Something about his speed takes me back to the days of Wenger using Thierry Henry to burn off defenders. Wengers no fool, if he thinks there is an edge there'll be an edge.

Is Jamie Vardy the striker Arsenal need ?
Pros: 24 goals 6 assists from 36 games for Leicester Vardy 2015-16 season you can't argue that Vardy just had one hell of a season but what are his stats before he joined Leicester.
2010–2011 FC Halifax Town 27 goals 37 appearances
2011–2012 Fleetwood Town 31 goals 36 appearances
Vardy joined Leicester in 2012 from Fleetwood Town where he has scored 49 goals 133 appearances.
Strengths
Speed Vardy is the 2nd fastest player in the english premier league with a average speed of 35.44km. Vardy also is a superb finisher makes key passes uses that speed to run onto the long ball.
Cons
Vardy will be 30 next season some suggest his age may catch up with him. Others suggest Vardy is a one season wonder
Weakness are Aerial Duels and passing
Conclusion
Looking at what Jamie Vardy can bring to arsenal his stats alone suggest he knows how to score a goal. Something that arsenal strikers have been struggling to do for some time. Some say with out Marhez Vardy will struggle and Wenger must sign both players. But people forget that arsenal have already signed a classy midfielder in Xhaka a midfielder who will provide the long ball for Vardy. I understand the release is £20m this is one gamble that i would be taking. Arsenal are known for their patient, attractive football, whereas Leicester were built around Vardy's strengths, playing on the counter attack and playing long balls over the top and into channels for Vardy to run on to. Wenger would look to change the tactics to accommodate Vardy strengths.
I think its classy business by Wenger a gamble yes, but Vardy stats suggest he is a classy striker and will continue to impress at Arsenal.
