Well, considering more people turned up to watch ONE A-League team play a team actually from Canberra, at an even harder to access ground and only about 20 people travelled from The Cove, I think my point still stands as valid.

If Canberra were in we would just be adding to the "uninteresting" teams element.

Strongly disagree.

I don't live in Canberra, but I can see the value of an ACT HAL team.

Using the same rationale one could argue residents of other places could say the same thing about a Sydney or Melbourne team.

Lol ye na we had a good 100+ mate.
I don't think this game measures the success of a potential CBR a-league side at all.
SFC played a few games in Western Sydney prior to WSW and from memory we never got very good attendances at all.

Its not a matter of going in then out

100 travelled to Canberra, or 100 including those from Canberra? I would have been standing with you, after all.
20 is probably putting a bit low, I agree. 100 including those from Canberra on the hill, I think makes sense. I do know for a fact quite a few of us there were from Canberra.

I'm surprised almost 6k turned up in Canberra, was prob mostly for the W-League game. You'd have to pay me to go and watch CCM v Nix.

Give them their own side and there will be a lot more than 6k turning up.

SFC vs PG 14, 167

That is still higher than any WSW home crowd this season, outside of the Derby right?

Swop Victory for Sydney in today's game and what attendance would it have got? 25k in the same table topping position?

Roar, Sydney and Wanderers all need to pull their socks up and turn 12-14k into 18-22k crowds

So we go from a 15.5k crowd avg to now 14.4k in one round? what the heck?. I think it's about time A-League take a leave out of the NRL or AFL and with scheduling spread out the big games and rather than have derbies rd 1 and 2 leave put them in rd 4 and 5 because rd 1 will always have good crowds because of the buzz of the season starting.

NEXT WEEK

WSW/City - 15,000 (perfect weather predicted + Cahill factor)
PG/Reds - 11,000 (should be a decent turn up)
Wel/Vic - 9,000 (who knows with Wellington but they've won two in a row now + Sat night so should be big)
Roar/Syd - 16,000 (This could be anything and we'll know with ticket sales later in the week. Good Brisbane weather forecast)
Jets/CCM - 9,000 (All CCM members get free entry so should boost it a touch)

60,000. Hopefully pushing towards 65,000 which will be a superb rest.

Will happen when we have to start the season earlier. Once we expand and hopefully have international breaks, we should start in with the standard games. And then once the other guys have finished we will play our derby games.

Crowds still strong when compared to the other seasons with 10 teams. November is arguably our quietest month so as long as we're getting 60-65k a week then we're holding nicely. Still plenty of big games to come and we'll get a nice boost over the six week summer holiday period.

Or add a second Brisbane and second Adelaide team and all of a sudden you riding out the wave of big derby matches by another 2 weeks. Then do the same with Perth and that brings it to 5 weeks in a row in total. Then add a mix of the other big match ups and you get a really good period of massive games. Not long after you are back to second match derbies again.

If you added a Melbourne and Sydney team you could have a Melbourne or Sydney derby in 6 out of every 11 rounds, more than half, and that's before adding Big Blues and other big fixtures.

Any reason for predicting Brisbane to get a bigger crowd than wanderers v Cahill FC? We always hear about what a big club wanderers are and what poor crowds Brisbane always get?

I don't know about Friday in WSW parlance whether they'll get a good turn out, but Brisbane Saturday evening game is the prime time for our fickle fans. Given Sydney's form,, I'm expecting (probably hoping) for another >20K crowd. We are playing a decent brand of football and getting results. If Maclaren can score a couple tonight it will add the zest for the game!

@ gurudave

I think they're both expecting similar crowds, although Roar probably 17-18k and Wanderers 18-19k imo. Wanderers are looking for anything over 17k to beat their non derby record crowd - that 17k is probably why expectations are a bit low but let's hope they crack 20k

On the topic of Wanderers v Roar crowds, both clubs have similar average attendances every season so it's just an Internet myth there's a difference.

Kinda my point waz. Brisbane has always had better crowds than wanderers who have derbys with Sydney as the only thing to get bigger season average. Yet you have this bloke above saying Brisbane fans are fickle yet second highest crowds in a league history. Lol it's just tiresome stuff.

Wanderers vs City

Less than 400 tickets left to general public.

No shows seems to be hurting Wanderers this year more than other years.

@ Multibet

Do Wanderers have to deal with stadium members at spotless? Roar have 4,500 Suncorp stadium members which is no big deal in a cavern but even a thousand or two at spotless woukd become restricting.

Wanderers then look set for a 20k crowd then 😀

Game in Wellington has been postponed, so averages will get thrown off for a while.

With no Wellington I am expecting the average to be 16000 this weekend!!!!
