Still maybe numbers will pickup with a higher profile game after the olympics.It might challenge AFL numbers for GWS games.

A-League first game on SBS: 166,000 metro + 77,000 regional = 243,000 total.
EPL first game on SBS: 108,000.

That's about as big a gap as you are ever going to see comparing like for like (and the Fox numbers will increase that gap).

Worth noting that  the Perth numbers are on 7Mate, and that they would have been around the 200k mark on the main channel (at a minimum).

I think its a bit misleading taken current figures when 7, the broadcasters of the AFL are also broadcasting the Olympics ATM.

There are a lot of regular season games of AFL that get beaten (resoundingl) by League.

But why do people insist in bringing up league and afl ratings on this forum. Can we not open a new discussion for that.

You need to follow the lead of the FFA and embrace the skips - that is the long term vision of the FFA.

From the Wookie site and near the end of the season so could this be the last post on non Football numbers we have a number of rounds to look at.

NRL .. FTA.. 630K average .. Fox average 229 K

AFL .. FTA.. 296k average .. Fox average 191 K.

Yeah but AFL has more skips.

And bananas. 

AFL FTA only averaging 296k throughout the season? That would be a big disappointment for them seeing as crowds are also down. 

Could it be that many users are now streaming via apps and AFL have a better app than NRL? I don't know just posing the question. Also because as we lead into our own season we may see a drop in ratings and it might not be so much a drop in interest as opposed to switch in medium used to view the game.

Would be good if we could get access to online stats for ratings using apps. 

Could be a slight impact on AFL but not major. Most people rather watch it on FTA TV. I guess streaming apps more used when you're out at a function and your team is playing. I've watched Victory games a few times via Foxtel Go when at weddings and engagements :)

And on NRL, it's a TV game. The crowds are about on par with A-League crowds aren't they?

A definite sign of growth for the tournament. I won't attribute it all to Cahill.

64k is pretty damned impressive.

Cahill definitely made a marketing impact.It was amazing that channel 9&7 ,during sports news ,both had crosses to Perry Park prior to the game.
Also coverage of Cahill next day .As well as the tree lopper.Lol.
We will see next week whether the ratings hold.
The Important thing is that the minnows get better each year.
The Strikers were very good value last night and I believe Hume City were too.
I just hope some more money can be pumped to the NPL teams ,when the new media deal is done.
