2:0 Canada on 80. Geez we're in trouble. First goal was a terrible error at the back. 

Geez all of a sudden things have turned bad for the matildas, a draw with NZ, a 3-1 loss to Brazil and Now this ? 

Not a great start, they moved the ball too slowly to create any sort of pressure on Canada's defence.

Also it seems to me the fitness did not improve in the second half, unlike Canada even playing with 10 players they looked more fitter than the Matildas, not a great start and Germany awaits next.
They cant afford to slip up again.

The coach is not good enough. Been saying it since the world cup. They don't know how to adapt. Get down by naive tactics.

Alleway and Kennedy had a shocker today. They're both too slow and kept going forward too high, that's when Canada scored their 2nd goal.
Kerr was creating a lot of trouble for the Canadian defence but Heyman wasn't at the same level.
All in all a very frustrating performance from the girls that fancied themselves to win a medal.

Not that i care for womens football but this morning on sky sports news live the stupid woman commentating the highlights was calling free kicks 'penalty kicks', called the penalty a 'free shot' and called the second goal for Canada the 'golden boot goal'

But hey, at least they qualified. Better than our other recent efforts!

Ridiculously amateur defending at times. Poor finishing too at the few opportunities we actually created. Very disappointing. 

Doesn't surprise me. Levels of ignorance in mainstream Australian (sports) media are something else.

Most disappointing thing is that womens football has wasted a great opportunity to boost its profile and thereby stem the tide of fringe players who potentially will switch codes to afl. Not to mention that ratings will be shit for the remaining games.
