hmmm did inside sport buy 442?
I don't have to log in
so hopefully some improvement here. Most batters in the last test did quite well to get a start. In tough batting conditions you really only need one player to go on with it and get a ton. Hopefully this is our test

On the TV it just cam e up that we've haven't won a test in Asia for 10 matches. The last was in Galle 2011.
So even though I might have been a bit harsh in criticism, maybe we need to revisit our lack of spinning pitches in the Shield in Australia.
As Grazor suggests, coaching may be an issue in Oz, but us losing about 7 successive Tests in a row in the same spin friendly conditions in Asia is abysmal.

sri lanka with a strong partnership
control still below 80% according to espn. Whats interesting about the last test is I think we had better control on average. Hope we can cash in

super aggressive works well against Australia since we haven't invested in resources in 20/20 so we don't know how to combat it
this was shown in NZ when batters actually found it easier to attack us then they did to play in a conventional way
Kohli also found in the 1 day series against us that it was easier to go at a 20/20 rate than it was to go at a 1 day rate against us
For all the talk of Australias batting being negatively affected by the 20/20 era I think our lack of expertise in the shortest form of the game means some of our bowlers have a real weakness

Australia has really copped some poor umpiring decisions this series from Kettleborough et al regarding LBWs. Starc bowled Mendis out LBW, middle stump, half way up the wicket with Mendis in the fifties. The umpire gave not out. Australia didn't review it, so Mendis stayed in.
Then in about four successive overs in the last test it happened with Australia often hitting the stump with reviews, but not enough ball hitting the outside of the wicket. The umpire could've initially given them out, then the Sri Lankan review could've resulted in umpire's call. Mendis was again lucky.
In many previous series, the DRS has showed what excellent judgement the umpires often have regarding LBWs. It hasn't occurred in this Test series to date.

I really don't like the 50/50 rule with clipping the wicket. It should be changed to 75%. I think that's more fair.

now we have one gosh sri lankas new batsman has an average in the mid forties just like pretty much every other batter I've seen in this team (missed the openers coz they were out so quickly :D)
they are actually on paper a very strong batting team on paper even without the home ground advantage

+xI hate watching us bowl. I don't rate Holland. Holland has looked innocuous bowling for Victoria at Blundstone Arena, but he is getting some nice loop in Galle. What he seems to be doing is bowling above the batters' eye line.

Can any of our cricket experts like Grazor, 11.MVFC.11, Quickflick, Lastbroadcast, or anyone else, give a detailed analysis of how Lyon is performing?
