What's Project Cars like? I've been meaning to get into it for the longest time..

Only sort of let down is probably the AI, otherwise a very, very tidy game. The AI is basically.. his worrisome at times, but not enough to break the game. Very good depth though, great career mode.

Loved me some Formula 1 97
F1 Career Challenge 99-02
Gran Turismo 1 and 2
F1 2011 was the best of the code masters range probably until the current gen consoles.
Have a soft spot for F1 Race Stars. That shit was fun, replaced Mario Kart at uni for us for a while.
Project Cars I enjoy too.
Sucks my G27 doesn't hook up to the XBox One like with my PS3, because now I have to save up for a new one :(

Draupnir:

I am very keen on the next edition of the GT series. I think they are implementing more rallies which will be great. More drifting.

Good thread.

First ever racing game I played was Colin McRae Rally on the PS1 followed by Gran Turismo both awesome games for what they were back then.

Then moved onto the Need for Speed Series over the years; Underground 2, Most Wanted, Carbon, Hot Pursuit (on the PS1/PS2/360 from memory).

Most Wanted was my favourite, the career mode with the 15 Racers pink-slips,  pursuits/milestones/bounty's I felt was ahead of everything else at the time.

Colin McRae: Dirt was next, reminded me of the good old days, plenty of different events/races. Still remember getting a couple of world records on the hill-climbs. RIP to the Great man.

Now on to the greatest car racing game I've ever played: Race Driver: Grid (360), just on how it played/graphics/career mode was just so far ahead of everything else.

GT and nfs for sure. But GT kills it hands down.

What were your favourites growing up? What are you favourites now?

For me, the progression of what I spent the most time playing would've been

Excitebike (NES)
Rad Racer (NES)
Super MarioKart (SNES)
Need For Speed (PSX)
Rage Racer (PSX)
Ridge Racer (PSX)
Colin McCrae Rally (PSX)
Gran Turismo 4 (PS2)
Need For Speed: Carbon (PC)

How about you?
Post up some vids of what you remember the most.
