I said most, as in that most that was not getting a face full of Perth afternoon sun.
20 thousand empty seats, 2/3rds under cover, 1/3 with a face full of hot sun, what do you think happened?
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DVqZhYVVAAE8zP4.jpg

I can accept that some areas were more full than others, but I don't accept the figure of 41k.

The self delusion of the AFL choosing that pic to put with their tweet is funny enough as it is.

While it may soothe the pain of the A leagues problems, you know FFTs preferred remedy of talking down the AFL helps not one bit.  Show a photo of something other than the emptiest part of the ground, then discuss.

It's funny because that photo is in the actual tweet from the AFL.

I was there, easily 42k.  The photo you show shows the section facing the sun. It was the only part of the ground less than 50% full. Most of the bottom tier was 90%.

I checked it out during the HAL prematch. you're full of it. Ground was empty.

Feel free to post the 360degree shot. sides had huge empty spaces too.

‘easily 42k’ Lol. Say you ate right and 15,000 were having a quick smoke when this shot was taken, why did 10,000 people who bought tickets not turn up?

Eh. They've been doubling crowd figures in NSW & QLD for decades.
The only reason this stands out is because the seats in that stadium are white and grey instead of the multi-colour designs/patchworks used elsewhere.

It is all elementary they can make up any shit they want because they run the media ignore the negatives over hype the positives. Football needs to learn from this.

50000 sellout and yet they are 10k short ?
me thinks someone sold tickets to their pets , which count as membership which adds to umpires and coaches , which counts towards " participation "

These are staged events to get the stadium certified. The first event had a capacity limit of 10k. This was supposed to test 50,000. Well, they tested the accountant's ability to count to $100,000 but that's it i'm afraid. I knew this "sell out" was another AFLW stunt but I didn't think it'd be this bad. The stadium looks as full as Nou Camp on referendum day

This is Adelaide .... the AFL's bitch ... and the local rag the advertiser , which is the official newspaper of AFL

Sports introducing gimmicky versions of their game never cease to amaze me. Surely there's something wrong with theie game in the first place if they need to find these mickey mouse versions.

SANFL “Fast Footy” tournament to take over Norwood Oval ahead of AFLX launch

SANFL launches 12-a-side pre-season Fast Footy tournament
Central District won’t play in “gimmick” Fast Footy competition
Speed the key for football’s answer to Twenty20 cricket
HIGH-scoring, free-flowing and entertaining football will be on show when Fast Footy hits Norwood Oval, according to SANFL coaches.

The league will reveal its hybrid version of the game tomorrow night and Saturday night – a week before AFLX – with 12 games and finals to be played by nine teams.

Fast Footy features 12-a-side matches with 10-minute quarters, unlimited interchanges, a last-touch out-of-bounds rule and kick-ins after every score, including goals.

Drawn games will result in a soccer-style penalty shootout from 30m.

The SANFL is offering $20,000 as prizemoney, including $10,000 to the winner, $5000 to the runner-up and $2500 each for third and fourth place.

Speedsters such as Norwood’s Anthony Wilson are tipped to thrive in the new concept. Picture: Tom Huntley.
Reigning premiers Sturt are expected to rollout a strong line up, including dual Magarey Medallist Zane Kirkwood in at least one game.

But coach Martin Mattner said Fast Footy would also give some promising youngsters an opportunity to put their names up for selection.

“The boys who won the under-18 and reserves premierships last year are back at the club and a number will be pushing for senior selection, so it's a chance for them,” Mattner said.

“We’re going to mix it up a bit, a few of the senior players are pretty keen to play.”

Mattner said about 18 goals were kicked in just three 10-minute quarters when Sturt trialled the game at training last week.

“It’s definitely free flowing and entertaining with not too many stoppages,” he said.

Eagles coach Michael Godden. Picture: Stephen Laffer.
Woodville-West Torrens coach Michael Godden said it was hard to know what to expect from the new format, but goals would come thick and fast.

“I’m sure we’ll be competitive and will be going out trying to kick a big score,” Godden said.

“Do you play just super-fit guys, stronger, faster, slower, bigger, smaller? It’s hard to know. “We’ll probably know more at the end of the carnival, and then next year you’ll have more of an idea.”

While the AFL’s new AFLX concept will debut on a rectangle pitch in Adelaide on February 15, the SANFL’s Fast Footy will be played on a full-sized oval.

Entry to the tournament is free and there will be music, children’s entertainment and club zones to create a carnival atmosphere. Central District will not contest the tournament because it clashed with its pre-season program.

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/messenger/sport/sanfl-fast-footy-tournament-to-take-over-norwood-oval-ahead-of-aflx-launch/news-story/b1918facf835624d8521a84ed70b552

Let's see if this morphs into SANFL AFLX comp next year @ Hindmarsh.
