Interesting info. Hopefully we don't get Syria Iraq and Thailand.
China Qatar and Jordan would be good.

POT 1- UAE, Iran, Australia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea POT 2 – China, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Oman POT 3 – Uzbekistan, India, Qatar, Vietnam, North Korea, Iraq POT 4 – Philippines, Turkmenistan, Jordan, Bahrain, Yemen, Thailand
the 2018 Asian Cup Finals draw is set for May 4, the match schedule is not yet on wikipedia but I expect this to be updated in April prior to the draw.
Some tougher and some easier groups are likely given the way WCQ and ACQ groups have skewed the rankings.
UAE are in Group A, so there is a 60% chance of being drawn in Groupd B-D where the winner will be drawn against a 3rd placed side in the Round of 16, personally it could be more interesting to be drawn into Groups E or F where the winner plays a group runner up in the Round of 16. R16-1: Runner-up Group A v Runner-up Group C R16-2: Winner Group D v 3rd Place Group B/E/F R16-3: Winner Group B v 3rd Place Group A/C/D R16-4: Winner Group F v Runner-up Group E R16-5: Winner Group C v 3rd Place Group A/B/F R16-6: Winner Group E v Runner-up Group D R16-7: Winner Group A v 3rd Place Group C/D/E R16-8: Runner-up Group B v Runner-up Group F

Gillett was the ref. Penalty at 2:21:59.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

2-1 Phillipines via a penalty in the 89th minute, Tajikstan need an added time equaliser or they will miss out on qualification.

The Tajiks took the lead on 64 minutes from a penalty but the Phillipines have levelled at 1-1 after 73 minutes, the crowd going batshit crazy after the equaliser.

+xKyrgyzstan win against Myanmar and are through to the finals. Plenty of Kyrgyzstan fans here on the forum. A friendly Group Stage draw should be helpful in getting them in a spot to make the round of 16 if they can finish 2nd or 3rd in the group.

Philippines blew there chance to qualify for their 1st Asian Cup, without pressure last night. Now face a do or die last round tie against Tajikistan. At least it's at home.

Bahrain, Lebanon, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, India and Jordan all sealed qualification today.
Oman and Palestine got in last month. Kyrgyzstan are in a strong spot. Philippines, Yemen and Tajikistan are in a tight battle for their two spots.
North Korea host Hong Kong with a 3 point lead. Victory by two goals would see Hong Kong make it.

I think by and large these groups will be quite competitive, the only issue is teams that are around 8-15 in Asia are going to win some games by a lot if they happen to be playing the minnows. If the WCQ round had top 16 or top 18 and then there were 6 or 8 Asian Cup spots for the next 20 teams (ie 17-36, or 19-38) in AFC then these 2 blowouts most likely wouldn't have occurred as Oman and Jordan would have made the top tier.
ie Kyrgyzstan Macau 1:0, Philippines Nepal 4:1 were both top seeded at home versus bottom seeded indicating the groups should be quite competitive.

Seeing some of these floggings and countries involved makes me wonder if regional grouping is needed. These teams probably don't have so much money to these trips or are provisions made? This is reward for winning the playoff and doing well in the WC qualification round but how productive is it?

No result for best Korea vs Malaysia. Cancelled?
Good result for Singapore. India might get in.

Turkmenistan start strongly with a 3:1 away win in Taiwan.
I'd like to see these teams qualify. Kyrgyzstan, India, Hong Kong, North Korea, Jordan, Vietnam.
Bhutan would be a miracle but Oman and Palestine should get through.
Turkmenistan and Singapore will hopefully be at Bahrain while Tajikistan and Philippines should get out of the last group.
