Faulkner, the Apple Isles's poster boy, needs to score more runs.

The experts verdict in the Tassie Members, former Shield players/selectors, think Faulkner has a lot of time to play his shots.

the thing is his record seems to indicate he is good enough to be in the side as bowler without taking his batting into account!

Yes, he is clearly a very good bowler but he is a number 7 at best with the bat. He needs to win his place based on his bowling only.

It is interesting to see the current test match between England and India features 7 all rounders on their first class record if not on their tests. England have Moen Ali, Stokes, Woakes, Rashid and Ansari and India have Ashwin and Jadeja. In addition Bairstow is playing as England's wicket keeper and is a genuine batsman. Saha the Indian keeper averages 43 in first class cricket although that has not translated into quite as strong performances in test matches.
Stuart Broad must be one of the best, if not the best, number 11 in test history and he is clearly the lowest credentialed batsman in the side.

None of them are good enough to bat number 6 in test cricket, except for the unpredictable Maxwell.
