Well they should, and probably do.

no one cares anymore.

Thats the point mate, no one cares about the old NSL effnik clubs anymore so SMFC's bid has no chance, just like the Cro's, Maco's and Italians.

When David davutovic goes on radio and says the SM bid article generated the 4th most piece of online traffic in the history of herald sun,

What all due respect - what a load of absolute bullshit

It's not even in the top ten most viewed articles for the week:

Bickmore prompts on-air surprise
Islamic State’s Melbourne targets
‘Party boy’ Warnie wants to meet Paris
Cyclist fighting for life after hit-run
Teenage hammer thugs are freed
How Big W went horribly wrong
Stabbed 70 times, but murder charge dropped
Labor divided as Wong lurches Left
Popular wedding venue under threat
On my shows tonight - refugee crime and the great media meltdown

Well that wasn't in original stament but even then he's talking shite, just look at the comment numbers for starters:

"South Melbourne to submit bid for A-League licence and seek inclusion in competition from next season" : 55 Comments

Compared to even today's

" ‘Party boy’ Warnie wants to meet Paris Hilton" : 70 comments

Not everyone comments on the articles, I didn't. In any case I'm just going by what Davo was saying, he was going on and on about it on sen the other night, Warnie meets Paris is probably technically not sport lol.

And now Davutovic wants SMFC to fail because he is a Croat. You can't keep your story straight.

No, davutovic was hyping it, was saying things like "time has come where we need to have a serious discussion about south Melbourne" "interest in the article in today's sun has exploded" etc , Michael zappone was being the one slightly negative. Which is weird because zappers is border line a fan and Davo is a knights fan.

Well then, so much for a tolerant society.

You don't care about the EFFNIKS then the EFFNIKS don't care about you. Fair enough?

In addition, you have EFFNIK clubs in the A league right now.

I've been following Soccer in Australia for a long time. And i can tell you this, that what is true today was true in the old NSL days. violence was largely overplayed by a media hellbent to destroy the game. This has not changed today as the media still have never relented on the ultimate goal.

I literally went to hundreds of NSL games. i only saw violence at 1 game.

Been to some AFL games, and generally speaking always considered Soccer fans to be better behaved.

I think he was talking about sports articles mate.

Which is still blatantly not true. If he didn't mean sports - Do you seriously think it gathered more views than a terrorist attack in Sydney, two Australian (minimum) elections, this past US election?

For that matter, how completely blinkered do you need to be to think that an article about South Melbourne would have more views than the world cup final, the Brazil vs Germany result, the Olympics opening ceremony, the Olympics closing ceremony, State of Origin and wait, Rebecca Wilson's death?

Delusional.

It's got nothing to do with any Glory days.

just a meritous system where good clubs like SMFC get an equal opportunity as other good clubs of cracking the big time.

They do deserve it and to hold them back will do the game no good in the long run. The game hasn't moved on to anywhere near the level where SMFC can be ignored. They have a rightful place.

The FFA is evolving too, and will let clubs like Woolongong, SMFC and Adelaide city in.

I agree that clubs should be given a fair chance, but unfortunately FFA doesn't see it that way and the only way the old NSL clubs will ever get into the HAL is via P/R as FFA wont be able to change the rules to suit themselves and this is a very long way off.

No issues with SMFC having a go, but you really have to ask how many times will you try & get rejected before you give up.

well then the current A league franchise model is all they deserve, and on top of that the current Woolworths dynasty which is starting to look like a Syrian tin pot if you ask me.

I have been losing interest for some time. There is no connection with a "club" and there is none of the excitement like prom/relegation can offer.

Where the a league is, is where it will plateau.

What might be the case now, might not be so in the future. evolution is something that can't be stopped as much as the ruling soccer elites would like to try.

it's not even a sport where you would have your kids play either tbh because there is NOTHING for them to play for. The FFA took all that away and turned the game into a little club for the elites, and not the grassroots. Where is the attraction? Compared to playing something like cricket. no room for the great 'unwashed'

The herald sun are a bit silly putting up a poll asking people to vote who they want as the 3rd team, gives the option of south, Casey/Dandenong and Geelong, of course south is winning the poll easily, what did they expect? One is a club that actually exists with fans and the other 2 are just ideas on paper that don't exist.

Casey/Dandenong leads the poll over Geelong in 2nd spot though.

The victim survived

A MURDER charge against a woman who stabbed a man to death has been dropped despite her lies about her motive.Bonnie Sawyer-Thompson, then 19, stabbed Jack Nankervis 70 times with an axe and a knife at her Morwell unit in June 2014.Yesterday she pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of defensive homicide. Defensive homicide occurs where the killer believes the act was in self-defence.The abolition of the defence homicide law was announced just two days after the killing.

There comes a point when defence turns into homicidal maniac, 3 or 4 times should be enough but 70 with a Axe and knife.

Give South Melb the license. They are run well and tick pretty much all the boxes.

Geelong is an interesting bid too. It has great potential but South Melbourne has a far better backbone with there bid, they are an actual football club unlike the majority of our franchises in the HAL.
