From the Newy Herald:

Negotiations with striker Mark Bridge are continuing. The Newcastle Herald understands the 31-year-old will return to Thailand this week where he is expected to finalise an exit from Chiangrai United.

The Jets have tabled an offer, believed to be for two and half seasons, and appear the frontrunner for his signature.

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Further update.

TWG reporting the Jets have 240k in the cap to spend but cannot afford Mark Bridge

Coach Mark Jones has made no secret of the fact he wants new blood and he'll have up to $240,000 to play with as the club continues its finals push.

Radovan Pavicevic's exit and the potential termination of Mitch Cooper's contract will open up space.

Jones wants Thailand-based forward Mark Bridge but can't afford him, while Shane Smeltz was on the radar before the All White signed with Wellington.

With a full cohort of visa players any new recruit must be an Australian, with South-East Asia shaping as the most likely market outside the A-League.

That 240k would probably have to factor in Pavicevic's replacement + Cooper's payout & replacement.

I struggle to see how either player wouldn't be considered quality. Two of the most proven long-term AL players still going around.

as said nothing against them, but Smeltz was released for a reason, failing to score was one, Bridge is ok I guess, but I reckon they should invest in real quality and bring crowds

You'd think the new owners would invest in quality, nothing against these guys but new blood would be nice
