+x+xInteresting. I actually meant it in a totally different way. To me the issue with the A-league to those who are not interested in it is that they too often just try to compare it the premier league with off the cuff comments like "well it's shit compared to the (insert top level league here)". There is a constant comparison that we just can't comepete with and the a league shouldn't have to. No one with a half brain would ever think there was a comparison to make but unfortunately people still do - so I think any reference like "Australia's premier league" is the worst way to approach it to be honest.I think of "our game our way" as taking ownership of our game, being proud of it and saying this is how we play football - this is our contribution to the global game as you say. I saw it as calling a sapde a spade. ffa arent trying to target the football literate. Thetre targeting bored afl fans who profess to know football because they own a liverpool strip. And the Problem with us doing it our own way, is that its incompatible with a world game. Its arguable that we are being held back as a football nation because of the fact that we're doing it our own way. I didn't think there was anything wrong with "It's Football: but not as you know it." from the inaugural season. It works in that it gets our preferred name out there in people's faces loud n proud. A-League football also similar to the EPL(lots of eurosnobs snorting now;) ) but not as fast so if you've only watched EPL it works too.

+xthe a-league branding is wonderful. thats what we need, something more youthful to target the youth. the big bash is winning the marketing war and will continue to win. Helps they are all over FTA in the Summer even if its only for 7-8 weeks. The cross-promotion and contra advertising is huge for them. Also they are playing a form of Australia's 'traditional' Summer sport. We are trying to change a culture and the habits of a lifetime that Summer = cricket. We are fighting the establishment every step of the way for our gains. With regards to the OP... I don't hate the proposed new AU logo. I think overall its a pretty good effort. The Wellnix phoenix probably needs to be bigger, but overall, most of the new logos are good:)

+xI like most, Phoenix could be bigger for the 'Nix. Never been a big fan of our logo, it was designed by Terry's brother. I didn't know that, it's not bad for an amateur, he obviously has more talent than being a convicted meth dealer. It is more Wainui than Wellington though, but fits in well with some of Garage Projects branding. It wouldn't look out of place next to a can of Pills 'n' Thrills ofr instance. Although, a Phoenix beer would have to be low alcohol and watered down based on the teams performance thus far (maybe Garage Project can introduce their first Shandy with Phoenix branding).

+xThe only think I didn't like was "our game, our way" We are part of something big and great and that's why people watch. Any attempt to be the black sheep of football simply alienates us from our fan base - evident with the ~78% of registered players ignoring the game If it were me, I'd make the tagline "It's Australia's Premier League" or simply "Australia's Premier League" Otherwise we might as well borrow from the "Un-McDonalds" advertising and have something like " A top 6 in a 10 team competition? How very un-football". "A rigged national cup draw to guarantee an underdog? How very un-football" Lol. agree. appeal to peoples intelligence rather than insult/underestimate it. Ffa should let them know that they know that they know lol

Good efforts Dave. I'm not going to knock them at all but... as an Adelaide United supporter that design does nothing for me. I think AU def need a redesign but aside from the shape of the shield and the font I wouldnt fiddle with the current one as on a nice red shirt and on black it looks pretty fab. The state tricolour tape or ribbon is pretty neat and other than that I prefer just seeing lots of red and yellow and black as AU are not a state team but the tricolour thing just gives a simple nod to where the club is from.
I would like to see AU come up with a really ornate alternate crest though too.
Phoenix and Mariners are two I would just fiddle the original as well. Phoenix itself needs to spread its wings and wrap around the crest, not be so contained within the shape of it. Other than that I like it.
And Mariners circle football wave logo is an absolute classic I reckon. just ditch the silly font and wrap words around it in a circle like you've done with the AU logo and that would suit it better.
Hal logo is great. Vic looks good. Jets is an improvement I think as well.
Good work.

+x+x+xReally good work. Particularly like thew MV one. Would be interested to here what MV supporters think. (Adelaide and Phoenix are great too.) Can you put up the Brisbane one if you've done it? I like the Vuck one, although like MT earlier in the thread I am a tad puzzled as to what the Crown is meant to symbolise - plenty of Vuck supporters are quite proud of their 'anti-establishment' ways, so it seems odd to have reference to a monarchy on our crest. I'm sure Dave has a reason, but as far as symbolism goes you couldn't pick a worse club in the A-League to have a crown as part of their crest haha. I reckon if the crown was removed it'd be an excellent upgrade on what we've currently got. I was tossing up whether or not to include the crown, put it in since Melb was formed as 'crown colony' so a nod to the cities heritage, but I agree maybe not as relevant to the current supporters. Hard to know what all the supporter groups really think about what their club represents so I was hoping posting this would give some insight. I'll pop up a version without the crown. And like i said try one without the fc isolated at the bottom... and tsf raises a valid point about it looking like vic pol.. dunno what could be done to alleviate it.. im suspecting thats why the orig designers went the way of bubbling-out the crest in the first place.. perhaps a completely different shaped emblem could work...like circular, for lack of a better suggestion...

FFA should get in contact with you ASAP! some of these are outstanding, particularly the A-league logo, CCM and Sydney fc.
Not a fan of Newcastle and Wellington though. I think the current ones are better though, sorry.
Overall, you certainly got talent.

Not real keen on the A-League logo - I very much like it (and the typeface) as is - but some of the TV graphics look very nice.
Crests? I reckon that Newcastle and Wellington actually have two of the better logos getting around - and I hate those clubs - Central Coast isn't an improvement even we really need one, but the Sydney FC one is pretty good.

I like most of them, great job Dave. I do agree with toffee when he says they lack individual flavour though I guess that's difficult to achieve when it's a one person job. Great work.

Adelaide one is awesome I think. The Victory Sydney CCM and Wellington look great. Looking forward to the tweaks coming.
Would the A-League logo colour perhaps look better being green and gold or the colour of the flag? I can't put it in my mind but seeing and image would help to see if it's even worth changing.

You could substitute the crown for the "Victorian" southern cross that appears on the state flag. Which is different from the national flag (points on stars)

+x+xHey all, I have been working on a bit of a side project recently for fun (images below), having a crack at re-designing the general A-league logo and it's overall branding as well as most of the foundation clubs crests which would by extension influence a total brand update for each club... ... Have a looksy and feel free to rip it apart or let me know if you think some of it's got some legs. Any feedback is welcome. Cheers lads, Dave Love everything you've done with the exception of the Phoenix badge, which I think is excellent in its original form and hard to top - and the A-League logo itself, because it kept making me think of a Union Jack. The rest - outstanding. Yeah, I purposely gave it a nod to the union jack, as much as we like to take the piss out of the poms, I thought a bit of a nod to our colonial roots might be nice. I was probably wrong though haha

+xJust noticed the Adelaide soccer ball logo looks a lot like the champions league logo. Are you allowed to do that? yeeaaah haha I couldn't be bothered creating a different version of the stars / ball at the time so just placed that in as a placeholder. I figured it got the point across until I got around to it (which I'm currently messing around with at the moment)
