Because its now a known fact that the board will not be putting any of their own money into the club for new players unless u manage to sell a few for a big transfer.

one thing with Naumoff  condition is that its very hard to spot unless you do a full 24 hour ecg. If they did a proper medical, measuring vitals and ecg on the tredmil. They still might not pick up that heart condition. 

But if they are doing the level that benjamin, that is shocking. Why do you even have a club doctor on the books, thats pretty much their role.

Tapping up isn't just making a formal offer, it's efforts to unsettle a contracted player or place pressure on a team to release/sell them. Arnold was out of line, he was told he was out of line by Perth, he was told he was out of line by the head of the A-league, is it really that hard to accept that what he did was wrong?

I think you will find that they actually made an approach to him under the "misunderstanding" that he was coming out of contract and subsequently apologised for doing so.

I think you will find that Arnie just made a public remark about Sydney wanting him if Perth don't. That doesn't mean the club has gone behind Perth's back and made an offer to Rhys Williams. 

Yup. Should be a fine if it happens again.

The club should definitely be blamed for trying to tap up a contracted player, regardless of their desire to join Sydney. 

Just because we aren't pov like ur club, we shouldn't be blamed if players clearly want to come to us. THe gloss has come off WSW now that they don't have a visa player advantage, and the only thing keeping it together is making a grand final which wont be happening this year.

If that's the case, that's appalling and very unprofessional.

Feel a bit for Taveras. He was a lot better than Faty, and he winds up at the Mariners. He should have just gone back to Europe. As for Faty, he'd probably struggle in an NPL1 team. I mean he's struggling in the Mariners youth league team.

What Legislative and/or PFA requirements are there for clubs? Sounds like there is a gap in the system.

Some may wonder whether A-League franchises perform medical exams on new signings (as the rest of the world does)...  I can tell you that the last two players I helped into the A-League the 'medical' was as follows:

Player 1 - Director of football asked me, "Has he been keeping in shape over the closed season?"
Player 2 - Head coach asked me, "Is he in good shape, I need him to come straight into the team..."

That was it.  Both lads were signed before they got on the plane.

Kusukami is your marquee? So not only is the visa recruiting bar Martinez been pretyt bad you always wasted a marquee spot on him. 

I know Im sounding like a broken record here and its not normally how I post but I cant understand the outrage here.  Blame the clubs accounting not the FFA.

Football Confidential: Central Coast Mariners’ dispute with Mickael Tavares getting nasty

THINGS aren’t as happy go lucky as they might seem on the surface at the Mariners, where a potentially nasty dispute is brewing over an injury that has ended Mickael Tavares’s season.

The midfielder’s ankle problem did not respond to several weeks of rehab with a doctor in Europe he had worked with before (and had treated players like Samir Nasri), and so the Senegalese international has had to have surgery — ruling him out for the rest of the campaign.

The Mariners want to claim his wages under the A-League insurance scheme, but they fear his injury was a pre-existing condition which might be excluded by the insurers.

Medical records from previous clubs have been sought in a bid to clarify things, and now lawyers have got involved on both sides, as well as the players’ union.

We’re told the club made him an offer to leave now, which Tavares has turned down, and it looks like things could get nasty.

THE transfer window came and went without Rhys Williams leaving Perth, with the Glory holding firm in the face of his desire to leave.

The question is what happens next — his contract has an option for another year but that isn’t triggered until he’s played 20 games. The defender has managed only eight — which means that unless he starts playing pronto, it will soon be too late for that option to be enacted, allowing him to sign with other clubs for next season.

There has been one other bit of fallout from the acrimony of the January window — after Perth complained about Sydney coach Graham Arnold’s comments on Williams (“We’d love him if they don’t want him,” was about the size of it). Sydney CEO Tony Pignata got a phone call from A-League boss Greg O’Rourke, telling him Arnold was out of line.

THERE was a lot of excitement at the Mariners about the arrival of Argentine forward Facundo Alcacer on trial a few weeks back, but it looks like Alcacer hasn’t quite cut it. We hear he’s on the verge of signing for an NPL club down in Victoria.

SCOTT’S NOT GREAT ENOUGH

WESTERN Sydney’s bid for Scott McDonald was rejected by Motherwell, but it was always a tall order to land the former Socceroo given the lack of room in the Wanderers’ salary cap. One suggestion put forward from an intermediary was McDonald could come in under the so-called Cahill Rule — as a guest player outside the cap — but that was never going to get the tick of approval from the FFA’s overzealous marketing department.

Part of the problem is Western Sydney already have two marquees — Nicolas Martinez and, basically for accounting purposes, Jumpei Kusukami.
