Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.

They need one big rectangular venue for the really big games, that's Homebush, and 30k-ish high quality modern venues for the NRL and A-League regular season games. It'd be a huge waste to make the smaller ones bigger, and the bigger one smaller.

Lots of empty seats in the Rugby Sevens final today at SFS, it really needs to be AAMI Park size, and with all the modern amenities that go with it. (Like a roof that actually covers the seats).

It's a real shame the Bulldogs/Liverpool Council Oasis project went dodgy and Canterbury pulled out as they were going to build a new 35k seat stadium in Liverpool with a retractable roof as part of the $900m project. If only...

Sydney currently have ANZ Stadium - 83,500 (this is not medium and to be made dedicated rectangular stadium commencement no later than 2019)

Ideally to include in the future dedicated rectangular format stadiums:
Allianz - 35,000 (upgrade) (Light rail to the stadium due to be complete 2019)
Parramatta Stadium - 30,000 (March 2019 complete target)
Liverpool - 30,000 (for third A-League team and as yoshi2284 suggest to share with Bulldogs and Tigers)

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.

I like the walk to the ground. Gives me time to take in my surroundings and get myself ready for the game. Hopping off the train straight onto the stadium like it is at Olympic park is too sudden for me.
The walk back is awful though. Somehow the dawdlers somehow always manage to find their way to the front blocking everyone's passage. I am always far more frustrated and angry by the time I get the station than I was at the stadium because I've had to tip toe shuffle my way there rather than being able to work it out with a good stride to the station.

LOL yeah I'm probably going to get hit by a bus one day when stepping onto the road to overtake the slowcoaches through Surry Hills.

Seriously though, it's not that far to walk, and there seem to always be special event buses shuttling to/from Central anyway.

NSW have enough stadiums...
Olympic Stadium
Sydney Football[ Stadium
SCG
Sydney showgrounds (spotless)
the new paramatta stadium

GEEZ HOW MANY DO THEY WANT

Yes but having stadiums which are dedicated rectangular that enhances the game day experience is lacking.

Spotless and and SCG are the worst grounds to watch any Football or other rectangular field codes. Why do you think they are going to all the trouble of re-configuring ANZ.

I'm with you re SFS/Allianz.
I find it pretty damn good for watching football or any other code.
Not apples for apples on this but one end of the scale to the other I just been to White Hart Lane (similar to SFS/Allianz in capacity) followed by Bernabeu.
Maybe needs a re fit for the whingers BUT TBH I'm there to attend a game don't need anything else.
Those other 2 grounds served the same purpose regards to grabbing a seat and watching a game !
The only negative is the lack of train station - spot on Lastbroadcast !!
WHL has a train station within 5-10min walk to ground, the Bernabeu has its train station right at the ground !

Yep, they should knock it down and replace it with a venue with 10k fewer seats.

Sydney needs two AAMI Parks and one big venue, not two medium sized venues.

I actually still like going to a Allianz. It's a bit old but when it's full it has the best stadium atmosphere in Sydney. Mostly good views from every seat. Honestly I'd rather they spend half a billion on building a train line to the ground.

I'm with you re SFS/Allianz.

No need for another stadium in Moore Park when it is only full once or twice a year for football of the round ball variety.
Never full for NRL or Union
Refurbish it yes and a rebuild would be an utter waste of money.

" A potential new A-League club on the Shire would make Shark Park and Kogarah less appealing to the competition leaders. "

Interesting that such a hypothetical would even warrant a mention - or maybe it's more than a hypothetical?>

Because its a given that if there isnt a South Sydney bid, expansion will still happen there

Roosters draw smaller crowds than Sydney FC by some margin. They averaged just over 10k last season, whereas Syd Fc were almost double.

So yeah Roosters definitely attract shite crowds.

Genuinely only being pushed by the ARU. They played their cards already saying they'd play all their games at the SFS in the east where their entire fanbase lives. League and Football are already getting the stadiums they want in Parramatta and Homebush, there is no real need for them to have Moore Park redevoloped.

Roosters average crowd last season was 10,235.

Year before(2015) that in a prelim final year they averaged 17,440 with only 3games over 15,000 and one game over 20,000( vsSouth Sydney)

2014,again a prelim final year, they averaged 14,800 and only had 2 games over 15,000(Wests @ 16,000) and Souths(35,000) which was in round 26 and was a battle for the minor premiership.

2013 in a premiership year is the only year since 1993(as far as I went back) they have  averaged over 20,000 with 20,397. Excluding finals and ANZAC Day(40,752) there were still only 2 games with an attendance more than that 20,000(Souths in round 1-36,000 and Canterbury in round 6-22,000)

So it would be fair to assume between them and Sydney FC(not sure about the Waratahs) 20-25,000 seat stadium would be fine.

Yeah but stadiums are cash cows. Hosting big events and Marquee fixtures is what they want. Shame because 10,000 doesn't even look bad in a 20,000 seater.

The Roosters had the worst average attendance in the NRL last season. They get shit crowds. SFC is pretty much the major tenant when you consider they play up to 13 home games + possible finals/ACL, etc you could be looking at almost 20 home fixtures at Allianz in a season.

How nice would that be. Besides derbies Sydney have hosted games between 13 - 20 thousand. In a 30 thousand seater would look nice.

even if there wasnt going to be a new south sydney club, sydney fc have effectively decided that south sydney is not where they want to play, they had their chance in their game against melbourne city earlier this year and they chose anz stadium.
