So let me see if I understand this. Clubs that have no local support, no results to speak of , are financial basket cases. Are going to tell the FFA what to do?

if you look at all the competitions in Europe, crowd figures are also in the few hundred when you get into the provincial leagues.

I don't think you have an argument here because there isn't much chance for any team to have support when the are stuck in a dead end provincial competition with no pathway, no marketing, and no media coverage. If you place MVFC into the NPL, they too would only get a a couiple of hundred fans, and that is exactly what their team do get in the NPL.

Also, half the A League is a financial basket case. not because of a bad business model, but because the entire model is broken whereby clubs don't own any IP, and because of high Stadium Rents. Many of the NPL teams are sitting on piles of cash. Some have great social clubs too.

No, they have plenty of support, history and have quite a record of production of quality players. Something the FFA are afraid of.

Who has?

Google golden generation, and then look at the wiki pages of each player and take note of the clubs they started at/played in.

They dont even try hard anymore.

I've heard most NPL1 clubs in NSW are on board with a couple specific clubs working on this for a couple of years now with their Victorian NPL clubs.

To me clubs must be winning their own comp and finalists in the FFA cup to even get a seat at the table.

In other words, tell them to climb Mt Everest without Oxygen, to get their seat.

Don't think it's too unreasonable.

Clubs wanting to be in the national 2nd tier should be there on merit.

On field performance is just one consideration.  Ground, finances, attendances etc will be others.

But on field should be one of the main ones with financials.

Travel and accommodation costs will not be that great.

Let's assume 10 road trips - then cost is about 160K over the season. And that's pretty much only for teams like Adelaide and Perth.

Figure based on a travelling entourage of 20 players and officials at $500 each making it $10K per road trip.

Then factor in accommodation at $300 per night = $6K

Therefore $16K per road trip. Times that by 10 road trips and we get $160K for Adelaide and Perth.

Throw in sponsorship and memberships plus sales, and the teams could be cash positive.

Two, tv. Something simple as youtube gets in the dollars. Albeit small. But its another revenue stream.

Then they can sell more players overseas.

Judging by the general positivity around here and from media types,it's hardly a stretch of the imaginarion to believe this is possible.
If FFA Cup games can get thousands to games ,why not a national Div2?
If FFA throw in a carrot of potential promotion to HAL within a set period of time or a playoff spot challenge against the lowest placed HAL team, who knows what is possible.

I think the Effnik Enclave League V2 will be a resounding success especially judging by the two men & a dog that show up to current former Effnik Enclave League clubs games.

What broadcaster wouldn't want to show those huge crowds on TV!!!!!!    Considering the fantastic quality of the Z League why wouldn't they show a bunch of semi pro, training 3 nights a week park footballers!!!!!

It's a done deal, I believe the clubs are going to divide a Happy Meals worth of TV rights between them.

Completely agree. The FFA Cup is a very valid precedence here and that competition has been a resounding success because NPL teams were playing A League teams. They were quite competitive against those A League teams to, and caused a few upsets which was really good to see.

There is no reason at all why a Tier 2 can't average between 4 to 5k each game. And if that is the case, a TV Deal shouldn't be far behind. Obviosly it won't be $60 million per season, but $10 million per season isn't a far stretch of the imagination either, especially if the clubs have a promotion carrot to aim for. That would result in them investing in their teams, and the competition would be quite lively.
